In a situation where i need to solvent onto underground soil (brown/orange) from experiance i have never solvent welded onto this stuff, as the fittings have always been push fit, although screw fix sell a socket that is solvent weld for underground use

have read up and people say a mixture of things, i need to solevent weld a short boss in replacement of a double push fit socket so i can get a 1 1/4 waste pipe underground, this is at floor level where the undeground finishes and normal grey soil pipe starts.

surely if screwfix sell a solvent weld socket i must be able to do this

Any recomendation or help would be apreicated

Push fit underground is not only for expansion but also deflection i.e. the Ground moves and pipes deflect away from straight in their couplers. Many couplers usually give an angle of deflection, so you can work out by the type of ground your laying drains in, how much deflection you want in a coupler.

That's why we always lay underground drainage in a trench surrounded by pea-shingle.
Don't we lads.
