Hello
I ve been to look at a job for a builder i work for. They are converting the back end of a garage into a bathroom. At the moment there is two 50 gallon CWS tanks linked together on the floor in the garage with a submersible pump in it pumping the cold water up to the CWS in the loft. It also supplies the main bathroom and all other taps except for the kitchen cold which is directly off the main.
They have had the water board out numerous times to look at the issue but they say there is absolutely nothing they can do as increasing their flow and pressure will starve the houses further on down the road.
Basically they are still searching for a solution to this and have asked me to disconnect the tanks, move them further out into the garage (so its out of their building space) and re plumb exactly as they are.
Then on the shower to the new bathroom they want to fit a mixer shower with a shower pump. The owner of the house was t there so i ve not gone into detail with them the exact plans, but to me there must be a better way. The CWS tanks in the garage at the minute aren t lagged, no lids on etc etc so will at the very least require upgrading.
Im thinking of suggesting it might be time to look for a proper solution while all this is going on and Im thinking the Grundfos home boost pump might be the answer. Has anyone come across anything similar or fitted the grundofs unit? If so how did it perform? i know if a decent solution can be found they want to upgrade their heating and hot water to unvented and sealed system heating. I know of the salamander home boost pump but i think in this situation thats just not up to it and they are looking for more than 12l/m so they can have their unvented.
Thanks

I like the DAB E.sybox
put it wherever fed from a CWST, they are really quiet and (imo) the nuts!

Alternative may be an accumulator (like a buffer) if they have pressure but low flow.

Neither are small so if space is tight maybe someone else can help?

Not sure that trying to suck water out of the main is a good idea tho.

Salamander to feed tank and E.sybox in loft?
Still cheaper than Grundfos but cant vouch for Salamander.

I don't think trying to suck more out of the main was a good idea either thats why i thought the grundfos might work well they store 200 litres and comply with all the regs. Although they are expensive everything is there is one tidy unit.

went to a large place with poor cold water flow recently, they had what was essentially a 40 gallon plastic drum with a presflo pump in the top to supply the cold water for the whole place.. good piece of kit but cant remember for the life of me who made it.
if I do, ill let you know

Need to be very careful what you do as they are using it for drinking water, Accumulator Proberly best bet

Do your customer a favour and get an e.sybox.
I was a commercial engineer for 10years working on schools and hotels so I've seen a few booster sets!
yes you need a tank but they do one for it and PRVs will come with unvented kit.
Compared to most units that are made of individual component parts assembled in a box the DAB is a complete purpose made unit.
It looks complicated inside with PCB's and the like - because it is!
Its inverter driven, fully adjustable on LCD display, easy to use, easy to fit, built in buffer vessel, 28mm tappings and almost silent.

Fitted some in a small hotel, each one feeding eight onsuite bathrooms at up to 3bar - and they were great.

I don't work for them I was just proper impressed.

Has anyone got anything bad to say bout them?
