Hi guys. For those of us that are still involved in one way or another with these combis, heres a workround if youve got a timer/programmer that has a flat battery. The problem with a flat battery is as you know in the event of a power disconection the programmer losses its settings and everything has to be reset. A new programmer if you can get one is around £120, or you can by a new battery and try and solder it in for about £15. Once i had determined the charging voltage was still there I purchased an "AA" battery holder from maplin for 90p and used a RECHARGEABLE 1.2v Ni-MH battery , like the ones you get in the solar lanterns and the like. I snipped one leg off the battery on the board so it would no longer be connected and soldered the battery holder wires onto the respective connections. This has been working fine for over six months with no heat issues or other side effects. I know some will say," just go out and buy a programmer".... the choice is yours.
