Hey guys

Switched off boiler + water. Somehow almost broke my bum trying to undo the old sink and drilled holes for the new one... I looked at the tap and I was like... ? I'm not used to this connection. Any ideas before I have a breakdown? Thanks 🙁

Your new tap has half inch connections you’re existing pipes finish in 3/8” swap them for two of these

ah man I wish it was something I could do now. No water again -_- why can't Screwfix be open 24/7? I'd go there and grab one.... If somewhere was open I'd bloody buy it 🙁 thanks...

Suzan, if you're going to be tackling more jobs to save having no water, you may want to purchase some stop ends?
E.g.: https://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/pegler-brass-compression-stop-end-15mm/3519g

Thanks .. how would that fit on the end of the current connection tho? 🙁

Undo the bottom nut, separate the 15mm stop end and use the blank part and screw into bottom nut and tighten, water on job temp done

Personally. If the water is going to be on and off the you should also fit some full bore isolation valves.

Doing that. Didn't tighten it strong enough where the olive nut and copper was and burst off towels ready for round 2

Couple of thing. You shouldn’t need PTFE anywhere near the couplers or flexi connectors, and I would say just over hand right then an extra half a turn.

What do you mean by couplers? PTFE on the olive for copper pipe connection no?

I have only been plumbing for around 13 years but I have never had to put PTFE on a compression fitting.
