Hi everyone,
I've joined the forum today as I've found myself going round in circles with what I think might be a pretty simple problem, hoping someone can help.
Our dishwasher is leaking and the manual says this can be fixed by cleaning the water inlet filter. To do this, we need to close the stopcock.
The stopcock was already frozen when we moved into our flat a few years ago and I'm reluctant to replace it because I worry that doing that will mean having to temporarily turn off the water supply for the whole building)!
But I can see a valve by the inlet filter, which I hope would turn off the water supply for the dishwasher. I'm scared to just try it in case it doesn't and I'm left with a gushing pipe!
Can anyone confirm that the valve with the black arrow in the photo will turn off the water supply to the dishwasher?
Grateful for any advice!
Ellie

Yes but it might drip once moved best to get the stop tap sorted as you will need it later down the road

Depending on access to the right it could be frozen and then changed etc

To address the main problem. Yes, the blue lever will turn off the supply to the dish washer. I suggest replacing the washer inside the dishwasher hose fitting. You can get them at wolesley’s or travis Perkins. Ask for a washing machine hose washer (exactly the same for a dishwasher hose). After, get someone to take a look at your mains stop tap.

Ah perfect. Thank you!
