15mm compression connector doesn't fit...

Hi,
15mm copper pipe in an outside loo (used as laundry room) burst last week. I bought a 15mm compression connector, cut the pipe, but I can't get the olive and nut on the pipe. Should I be looking for a bigger size connector?

its probs 1/2" which is slighly bigger, with a bit of force and maybe sand paper you should be able get it on imo

thanks, would deburring the edges help? if so do I just need a metal file?

a bit of sandpaper/ emery cloth better idea, just take burr off then tap fitting on imo

probability you cut only a small piece, because pipe burst there was an expansion on the pipe, cut little bit more and it should fit.

There are different pipe sizes about. There's a lot of larger sized pipe around Bexhill, the nominal bore is the same but the OD is larger. A lot of people file it down and fit a compression connector but I use a pipe expander and form a socket on it.

Indeed, its a heavier gauge...was it called 17 gauge or something like that...

Usually it is just that the pipe has swollen due to the water freezing - particularily in very low temps.
Try cutting it further back & if using compression fittings, have some conex fittings handy as the fitting & its nuts are slacker fit than cheap fittings.
If all else fails, replace the entire pipe or if you can't, then use speed fit push on, as they are slack fit.

Pipe appears to be frost damaged and has deformed due to expansion and contraction. Best to cut it out and replace it if possible. If it is the old imperial 1/2 inch copper, JG Speedfit make a 15mm x 1/2inch pushfit straight. I buy mine from here:

you can get 15mmx16mm compression couplers if all other options fail, they still stock them on the shelf at some travis perkins and city plumbings.

I know where your coming from, throated bend on a formed bend on a bending machine!

itll just be where the ice has expanded the pipe ive had it loads of times - you have to remove the pipe to where ever the swelling isnt im afraid - do it properly then get it isolated for winter.
