Hi Just wondering if anyone can help me with an issue I get now and then with my Danfoss HSA3 3 way port valve, When the heating and hot water are on demand all is fine but when demand goes for hot water and the motor has to move the port over to just radiators the heating stops running but if I go up to the HSA3 and just gently push the lever maybe half a millimeter it fires up and runs fine... it's as if the cam is not quite travelling enough to hit the microswitch, This doesn't happen all the time just now and then, The whole valve was replaced last year as it was suffering the same issue... surely these ports last longer than 12 months. Thanks for any help...

Don't like the danfoss HSA valve actuators. Take the two screws out and look at the date on the orange sticky. It should still be under warranty, get it swapped.

Although it may be a sign of a bigger problem with your system, lack of inhibitor, too much crud in the system etc.

Don't think it will be dirty water as I flush it and add inhibitor every year... water is clean as a whistle...

What port do you recommend i fit instead of the Danfoss one then bud.

Honeywell for me, but then I prefer S plan 2 port valves over a 3 port any day. Just something about the danfoss ones, have loads of bother on camray 5 oil combi's with them.

Nice to hear somebody actually being proactive with their heating system and keeping on top of the water side. 🙂

The head I would think will be still under warranty to get it swapped foc though.

remove the head and see if the shaft under the motor head is free to move rob. while head is off turn cyl stat to min and select heating only lever should move and you should get 240 volts on the orange proving the micro sw has made .

Yeh I don't really want to start altering pipework...

The system is getting on a bit now I think it is about 22 years old... well I have been in here 15 years so at least that... testament to doing a bit of preventative maintenance works... mind you I think the boiler is about due, I think it's done time...

I have just taken the port apart, the sticker says Dec 12 so do you think it should be replaced, trouble is I cant remember where I bought it from... could of been E-bay....

Removed the port and the syncro motor and checked the micro switches and cam plate... all seemed fine if a little slack here and there, Bit of lube added here and there, Tried putting the cam plate one tooth further round just to see if that made the plate activate the micro switch a bit earlier... see how it goes.

It's out of warranty then, just. Typical. See how it goes, if it does need a new head go to a merchants and get one. Don't quote me but I thought these had a 2 yr warrantee. If it's only 12 months old and expired then somebody has had it kicking around a while before you got your hands on it.

Hello bud long time no see, How are things going m8... are you keeping busy and earning plenty of cash... FLT trade is still crap it's about time i jacked it in... Just hard to find summat else.

I must of been typing the above reply when you posted... it does take me a while to type.. I have just stripped it and it seems that the cam doesn't make the micro close on the orange ... tried moving the cam round a tooth see what that does..

The plastic cogs on these fail, not built to last. Go for honeywell they are the best in the long run.

Danfoss must have changed as I have had the motor out and the gears are brass or some kind of metal... all looked ok I even check that the micro switches were working but the dam thing keeps sticking... it's as if the motor is stopping before it reaches its full throw, I think I will just change it and would like to fit the honeywell version, Do you know if the wiring is the same on them so I could do the swap over. Cheers.
