Why did I wait so long to get a bigger van?

It's slow, has the world most drab interior and isn't the best looking van out there. But I really like it, feels unstoppable, until it snows! I'll have to invest in some snow chains and bags of sand to position over the rear wheels!

Very impressed with the MPG too, 34 MPG from a 2.5 TD is pretty good going IMO.

Going to miss my Caddy, but really was getting unbearable working out of it 🙁 Selling it to pay for the sign writing and racking for the new van.

Everything you say about them is true, the most reliable van I have ever owned. I bought a spare set of brand new wheels of eBay, Merlin something or other. If you call them direct they'll do a better deal, I bought four snow tyres of them as we'll.
It might be slow but you'll always get there.

I bought it when I went self employed 16 months ago, thinking I'd only be doing odd jobs. But things took off quite well and I outgrew it very quickly!

Looks in good condition... Proper oak flooring I see as well!!

Just think of all the extra space you will have!

I have only heard good things about the reliability on those toyotas so hopefully be a good workhorse!

Same here, thats why I went for it in the end.

Previous generation Transits were ok-ish, but every single one had huge amounts of rust on them. The next generation aren't very reliable.

Trafics/Vivaros have well documented issues with faulty injectors, which then become seized in the cylinder head. Becomes a specialist job.

Transporters were well out of my price range, hence my choosing this.

Can't wait to get some proper metal shelving to go in there now!

anyone looking for a NEW van , go to your local Mercedes and ask for the new sprinter SWB

Whys that? So they can ask for a new less rusty one in two years time? Merc do have some good finance though. U can buy ex hire ones from Northgate for nowt. As it's a merc engine will far outlast bodywork.

they have just got the new sprinter out , efficient and full of safety futures , it comes with 5 or 6 speed manual or 7 automatic gear box
could have a xenon lights too

i personally will be looking at crafter or sprinter swb low roof in the next few years , but I think it will be mercedes next

Sprinters are awesome vans. We've got a couple of 55 plates and 3 08 plates - all on monster mileages and still going strong.

Just don't leave them somewhere where the pikeys can nick the exhaust.

Our 06 had exhaust fall off once or twice! Easily replace as only half way along. The hightop lwb is a monster, slow off the blocks but once it's away, 90 is a diddle ( obviously 90kmh) Cabs nice size it's just the rust. 7 year old van mot needed new brake light and a tyre. Transit 07 133k in clock in next............

I had a sprinter, the turbo started making funny noises at 120k. Traded it in for a transit, the gearbox went at 40k.

I drove a LWB Jumbo Sprinter from South Wales to Motherwell, which if I'm correct isn't too far from Glasgow. Probably the most uncomfortable van ever!

I discounted Mercs on the same basis as Transits, rot!! Its a real shame because the Vitos are great looking vans.

Which model Hiace is a Peugeot Leo? Is there a new one or do you mean the even uglier version of mine with the awkward bumper and massive headlights?

Tell you what though, going from a 1.9 non-turbo diesel to a 2.5 turbo diesel is lovely, forgot what torque felt like!

No it's the Toyota pro ace, a Peugeot with a Toyota badge. Don't do it, it's French, it'll break.

I meant cheaper private. Obviously I bought this second hand.

Leo, just looked at the Proace, just a rebadged Expert. What the hell are Toyota playing at? I'll be hanging on to mine for as long as possible!

Same here Ricky,it'll see there top reliability record go down the pan. 4k + vat seems like a absolute bargain, looks in really good nick as well.

It's just about to roll over 100k, but I'd expect it to do over 300! They serviced it, MOT'd it and changed the timing belt too.

It's in pretty good nick, odd dent here and there, but overall it's good.
