Hi guys

ive been advised that this flux is the best. I've used it for 2 and a half years.

I clean my my fittings and my pipes, flux then solder. My soldering is bang on but holy moly have you tried moving the pipe or fitting once inserted with flux on? Stressful to say the least.

Work provide the flux but it stresses me out a bit. Obviously as time progresses and I gain more experience I don't need to move my fittings as much once inserted.

Can an you suggest any other flux that's just as good, if not better? Or is all flux the same when trying to adjust the fittings.

Might seem a stupid question, but I wanna learn as much as possible about my trade. I've got a long career ahead of me!

I used to have the same problem with Powerflux. Been using Everflux for a couple of years now & it doesn't seem to "glue" fittings so badly.

Somebody said its due to the Powerflux been 'self cleaning'. I'm more than happy to clean the fittings myself. We use the ever flux at college so I'll give it a go in the real word and see how I get on. Cheers dude

I use laco flux most of the time and then power flux if I need a joint holding in place. Can't really get on with it for day to day use though as I prefer to be able to move joints freely to get them in to position.

I hate powerflux the fittings stick and its soooo annoying. I use Laco and have no problems with it.

Nocorrode for me, does what it says on the tin 🙂 but works as a flux and doesn't burn broken skin

I use everflux. Works well. I wouldn't mind giving that nokorode a go though Lame. Is it the regular flux paste you use or the aquaflux? Is it self cleaning? Also were do you buy it for from? Looks like it's from the states.

my local indie stocks it, I only know it as nocorrode, cleans most copper fine, if its really dirty I just wipe it on first and clean it off again before refluxing.

Used powerflux before and really didn't get on with it, there are situations where gripping the fitting like it does is a good thing but it's a pain in the backside most of the time.
Another vote for La-co flux from me.

Just ordered some off of the bay. 500ml more or less for a tenner all in delivered from the US of A . Must be cheap out there.

It never runs round properly. At least in my experience. Wont even do it out of place

I've just started using leaded solder with laco. I've had a couple that didn't run properly but put that down to using a different type of solder and getting used to it. I find the leaded a little bit more difficult to work with but it's a lot cheaper so I'll carry on ha ha

I lost it after half a roll. Last one Ive had to use hacksaw blade to cut 2 metres of pipe because it bloody wept. Still got the roll left of you want it haha

I have never had a problem with laco and leaded solder. The leaded solder just doesn't run around the joint as quickly as unleaded and I find needs more torch movement to help it.

Fry Fluxite makes leaded or unleaded solder flow well.
Surprised that people find leaded solder hard to use. It is a lot easier to use than unleaded. Must be the flux they are using.
