I've had this argument today with Kate. We've got sky mainly for the sport. But I rarely watch the football at weekends because the kids keep me too busy. And most games are now BT sport. I love the boxing but any decent fights are now PPV. We normally watch bbc or itv till 9.30 and then go to bed!
I'm ditching it and getting freeview.

fed up with sky broadband, goes dicky from 11;30-2am every night and only getting 4.5mb download!!

sky gone, kept box to avoid welsh news, freeview tv on old tv antennae, broadband on tiscalli, be changing again soon and cheap mobile contract

Cheers to all so far ... Is kodi a one off payment . Numpty question now , can you watch it via a smart tv, or does it have to be off a pc / lap top etc .

Kodi is 100% free. You can stick it on an Amazon firestick or buy an android box with it pre installed.
Watch this

Can you tell me a bit more about this Clarky? only today i was thinking of ditching virgin as i feel im being ripped off!

Can i watch all the progs and sport etc with this? What else do you know about it

You only need a firestick or android box to watch it on a telly. Any telly with an hdmi plug on it.
If you download it to your laptop, tablet pc or even your phone you can watch it from there without any other box or gizmo. Get a chromecast stick and you can stream it to the telly.
Lots of ways to do it.

good grief thats more involved than commissioning a vaillant or Wb boiler 🙂 only a 4 year old could do that

If it is being broadcast anywhere in the world you can watch it for free. Any tv program, any sports, any film tv series you can think of.
Live tv has about a 30 second time lag which you won't notice.

If you want to see what it is like, download it onto your pc or laptop here
[DLMURL]https://kodi.tv/download/[/DLMURL]
Then follow the instructions and install a couple of things from here which will set up the basics for you
[DLMURL]https://www.tvaddons.ag/config-wizard-kodi/[/DLMURL]
Then figure out the rest. It will all be there you just need to play around with it and find them.

Freeview and for entertainment netflix.
Used to have sky and think its great but far far to expensive.

which is better fire stick or mxq box please or are they very much the same ta muchly

I have firestick. It's great. My apprentice is a bit of a computer whizz so I bought it from argos for 35 quid and he loaded kodi on it for me. Absolutely everything is on there.
It takes a bit of getting used to and can be a touch frustrating when some of the links don't work.
Also if watching lice sports with a high demand lime pay per view boxing the streams are perfect for the under and but when everyone comes in from the pub for the main event and demand skyrockets the image suffers enormously.
We watch movies and tv shows mainly and for that it's awesome

have a look on ebay for android tv box, which will have kodi already installed.

now got my box and it is looking good. have ditched paid for sky and gone to freesat from sky and gone to fibre broadband with them. mainly gone to freesat because the tv feeds on live tv weren't that good on the android box, however that could be my normal broadband is only about 2.4mbps.

I ditched virgin and have gone for the fire stick and installed kodi on it. Pretty good. HD quality on most tv programmes and some of the latest movies. Watched captain america civil war the other night and it was not bad

Missed this thread!!

I am on Virgin with 150mb broadband 🙂🙂🙂

I have an Amiko A3 box running android and Spark

I pay about £200 per year to a IPTV supplier and have all the channels you could ever want through a bespoke Kodi addon, every 3pm KO, all sky box office, all movies, foreign channels. They host them all on their servers so channels going down is really quite rare and its only a small set up so you can Facebook or tweet them and they will help you with any issues

I tried all the free add ons and got annoyed with all the crashing and broken links, found a month trail with these guys for about £20 and thought why not, and I'm about to renew for a year now

They have now even linked up with these guys: https://www.on-tapp.tv so it can look very pro! I have took this minor plunge yet mainly due to having the time

How much for the broadband Tom? I used kodi and just installed all add ons from husham. Great links I say. Watched a 3 pm kick off the other day but not the best quality. I have been looking into IPTV, you say it is worth it then?

£30 odd per month fit just broadband. I don't use a land line so no line rental. I did have it half price for 6 months as well I think.

IPTV is worth it IMHO. Do what I did and take a month out. Try it

Do you use the virgin media modem and wifi router? If so is it the super hub 2 and what is the connection like. I have the super hub 1 and it won't go through 2 walls. Only works in the room it is located in.

Yeh. Super hub 2. I'm in a 3 bed semi and it works all over including drive and garden. I sometimes have to use a VPN as virgin block some websites but all ISPs do that

Hi Tom

Just looked at the mbox facebook page and like it. Just waiting for my android box. Thanks for the useful info

Is most stuff with mbox HD? Im looking for football, movies and tv boxsets

Cheers

Mate

I just checked this site but couldn't find prices. Any ideas of cost for above

6 months ago prices were:

1 month £20
3 months £55
6 months £110
12 months £180

They do sometimes have offers on, in June you get 13 months for the price of 12 which what I will do

I just paid for a month of the on Tapp service so mine now looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-Yn_Oi7K8U

Yes, most is in HD, I would say compared to friends the quality isn't as good as full sky sports HD for instance but still looks great on my 50"

Only 35 quid for a firestick no ongoing costs. Access to every tv show and film made and sports and all music etc. Live TV and ppv events

What build is on it jules?
The latest is only a month old and the issue with kodi is as soon as new software is released the developers optimise the add ons for the new software which means anyone running old software can get a bit buggy.

Let me know if yours starts to play up and I will sort it for you. I can talk you through it over the phone.

not sure will have a look when i get a minute.

I could write up a "how to" tutorial on how to do it. You would just need a firestick which cost 35 quid new from argos or tesco.

It's so easy. Honestly if I can do it anyone can do it. It takes no more than 20 mins to do.

Is it possible for me to start a thread where I can do a write up of instructions but posting is restricted so no one but me can post?
Reason being I will need to do it in a series of steps and if members keep posting questions before I'm finished the info will become clouded and more difficult to sift through for people who want to use the info

Too big and too many photos.
I've sorted it with croppie.

So as long as there is some interest I will do a thread detailing all the nice easy steps to follow to set up a fire stick with the latest all singing all dancing version of kodi. Just like mine in the above screenshots

just dumped sky and signed up to virin big knacker or something, no tv.
pictures i can follow lol

got an old roku stick, is this good enough or do i need another-which one?

start the post and i will close it until your ready. kj

OK. You will need to follow my tutorial.
I used to have isengard. The problem is that when new software comes out the developers start optimising the add ons for that and then the old software struggles a bit.
