Metal tank does not need to be fully supported underneath. Full support regulations only apply to plastic tanks.

Pipe insulation needed.
Not a complaint - and perfectly acceptable, but seems plumbers have to use solder elbows because they can't use a bending machine to do more than one square bend on each piece of pipe. 🙂

Better that the vent directs any hot water downwards into the tank water I would have thought.

If I had installed it, no, that's messy and why not centre it on the hatch is beyond me. But I wouldn't call it unsafe. Assuming the loft hatch is fixed in some way, and even if not then it's probably okay from a technical perspective.

It's a long pole which you bend the pipe around, having filled the pipe with a bending spring. Saves strain on your knees. Often has wires or a lamp attached to the top to make it look like a lamp-post or telegraph/electrical pole.
