Is a vertical section of soil pipe allowed between sloping sections?

As Dontknowitall says, but some BI"s don't have much experience in this. When checking it out with colleagues they come up with all sorts of problems. Using 92.5 degree tight bends at base/change of direction can be an issue. Venting at this point may be required, Access on bends for rodding...

How long would it take you?

We all think differently. Reading your report. In order for me to earn a shilling and the punter to get value, i would have been inclined to clean up and re washer the ball valve. Explain my reasoning and leave with me cheque.

Big flange on a sludge cock?

I this a joke? When having trouble turning. The nut at base can be undone 1/4 turn tapped up allowing the machined surfaces within the valve to loosen.

    Flow rates and pressure

Mfgs. The pressure remains the same what ever size pipe when the water is at rest. but volume is needed to feed appliances. If you can find info. about hydrolic gradient it may help you focus. And get your head around the situation.

    Logistics / scheduling for bathrooms

If the hot water is via a combi why the electric shower?<br>With the basin, Why not fit it with say flex connections and let the tiler unscrew the fixings drop a couple of tiles in and refit, or stick a bit of packing / tile in back centre of basin, giving the opportunity to slide tiles behind...

    new water mains

Hi No. 750 mm below ground level and i seem to remember 450 mm from the outside wall as a minimum where it rises in the building (rarely achieved.)

    Re-Route Vent for soil stack

Hi That will be fine. But the vent needs to terminate 900mm above any openings to the building (window etc) and or 3m away (Horizontal) from openings. It can be run in 75 mm if required. But many use air admittance valves which if within compliance can be housed at high level in the units you...

    unvented fed by pressure set.

Hi Kimbo. The cistern will need to be sized (in my opinion) at least twice the capacity of the bath the system feeds. Needs to comply with reg's regarding fly screen, lid, insulation etc. These point are not easily achieved if the cistern is sited outside the property. There may be members on...

    Aaaaaaarrrrgh!!!!!!

Its nice to see a bit of plumbing that requires very few tools to complete, difficult to make from a training manual and giving the perpetrator satisfaction. Not ever bodies cup of tea but its a skill that needs to be kept alive to maintain visually pleasuring additions to existing buildings...

    unvented fed by pressure set.

Hi Kimbo. Salesman sell the product and take the money. You are the one who gets ear ache from client. This air problem could be the result of others on the main using pumps? If using a break cistern is can be sited at ground level.

    Aaaaaaarrrrgh!!!!!!

Hi. System. I seem to think it the LCA (Lead Contractors Association) rather than LSA. However the content of the script is accurate. Nepotism has spread to the small business commercial world. Perhaps this practice amongst the Lairds was how they afforded to build these beautiful building in...

    unvented fed by pressure set.

Hi. Even with a private supply pumping direct may well be a law breaker. Its general to feed a cistern first then pump from the cistern. If you intend to pump direct the low head you talk of may cause others on the 2" main to suffer negative supply, creating the ideal situation for back...

    Flow rates and pressure

Hi. Shower heads vary massively in terms of discharge. As such they can be called part of the design. There are thousands of domestic properties with two showers or more that work perfectly well. Its not a one off, the concerns and awareness you have shown will result in a sound job i am sure...

    Flow rates and pressure

Hi. I use Box's formula its as old as the hills but other than doing the job, theory and a bit of experience is the only way to calculate the outcome. There are quite a few things that effect delivery. Mains pressure fluctuates on demand (peak times reduce to low levels in some communities)...

    3 flats water supply

Hi. Infrastructure charges for tapping a new supply can run into a grand or two. Check it out with the local water company before putting to much work in. As the client may well change plans. Good Luck
