Hi,
Clueless amateur here. The rod mechanism controlling the pop-up waste in my bathroom basin has somehow failed so that there is now no rod projecting into the waste pipe to move the 'plug thing' up and down. I've managed to remove the plug so am now left with an unprotected open pipe draining...
I'm changing a basin in my bathroom and have been advised to use a dual flow tap rather than a mixer tap in order to stop any back flow. I haven't had any luck with my local suppliers. Can you advise me .
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and need some advice. I am not a plumber by any stretch of the imagination, but I try my best at DIY.
I have purchased a cloakroom sink from ebay, which was the only reasonably priced one I could find to suite and fit my cloakroom toilet. The issue is all of the...
I have done something stupid.
I was clearing a blockage in my bathroom basin with a plunger. It has an annoying pop up plug that is opened by pushing it down rather than with a lever. I usually put a coin or something in it to hold it open if I am using a plunger, but forgot. To cut a short...
Looking to buy a basin wrench obviously want a one that's gunna last a lifetime, been looking at Rothenberger Telescopic Spring Loaded Basin Wrench, wondered if it was any good much appreciated No.7.0225
I need to remove a tap from a large ceramic (expensive) basin. The backnut has completely corroded and is not budging. I soaked it in penetrating oil and still no go.
Room around the backnut is limited. There is a rubber washer in between 2 metal plates that go onto the underside of the tap...
Hi guys,
Thought I'd ask the experts as I don't really have a clue about plumbing. I can follow instructions though...:blush5:
The problem is I have a basin with a hot and cold tap and I want to change it into a single mixer tap. Replacing the basin isn't really possible.
This guy...
Hi there,
I'm a plumber who is a bit confused...not hard I know. I've fitted my new bathroom suite not long ago, say 2/3 months, new taps, bath, basin etc. Tested and all worked great.
But Tbh I don't really use it because we use the ensuite all the time, so I filled the bath for the first...
Unos :-
Seems like these type of basin brackets are usually used with makeshift packing of anything to hand between bracket and basin to try and get it to sit upright because basin usually wants to hang forward a bit. Is there a better less bodgey way to get these to work properly and hold...
Hi
I'm working on a bathroom with some unusual stuff.
They picked up an old basin, belfast ceramic style, small about half the size of a standard belfast sink, quite shallow. They think it was from an old chemistry lab...
The diameter of the hole measures 80mm but someone has fitted a black...
Hi all. I'm fitting a basin and ped and I'm having a bit of bother. It's a roca basin with a high lip at the back that swoops down the sides. Thera no ridge on the base of the basin for it to sit on the ped but when I put it on flush the whole basin is out of level. If I put the back of the...
Above is our final location and you can see a typical contemporary basin holder for a bathroom. Ready to accept the basin.
Upside down and you can see our basin has FOUR potential sites for the tap. Note if you use our drills your choice...

Put wet vac on drain pipe and sucked it. Water drained slowly, sucked again, blocked, sucked again, drained slowly...
Hi,
I live on a houseboat and am currently putting in a new bathroom.
I was going to run my was bathroom basin waste into the bath waste but I understand I could have syphoning issues when the basin empties. The reason for this is simply to cut down the amount of waste pipes on the...
I was wondering if in a Salon the Back-wash basin has to have a TMV on it as a guy is saying to just adjust the ball-o-fix valves accordingly to get the right temperature
Hi all,
I have a dripping Ideal Standard Neostrahl monobloc basin mixer tap in the en-suite. It has probably been there since the house was built in 1983. I have replaced the washers (I had to cut down 3/8 in. washers to fit) to no avail, and my tap reseater is too large for the tap.
So...
