I'm going to have to get by boiler replaced which means provision needs to be made for a condensate drain as the old boiler didn't have one.
The boiler is in the garage, that is part of the house, if that makes sense. The house was built in 1999.
There is no convenient internal drain.
Outside...
Hi, i am looking for some advice please!
My shower drain is leaking. The water is leaking down the outside of the drain. The water that goes into the pipe is fine but most of it is not getting there! I have attached photos for you to see and marked with an arrow where the water is coming...

We are putting in a shower pan and I have a couple of questions regarding the shower drain and vent.?
As you can see in the image the 2" vertical vent runs along the wall and exits up behind the old tub shower...
We most likely have a clog problem that we can't seem to resolve. These are the details:
The drain has been slow in the tub in bathroom #1 (located on the east end of the basement of our ranch home) for a while, but it was always keeping up pretty close and finished draining within 30 seconds...
Hi - I had a low profile shower installed professionally some 4 years ago. The hi flo drain keeps clogging up. Last time we eventually cleared a bit of it when a 'plug' of gunge came out that was the shape of the inside of the pipe - ie, it had congealed and formed like an inner blockage -...
Hello
My upstairs shower drain is smelling absolutely rotten, water is draining a little slower than normal. I’m 99% sure it’s my gf’s hair (had this issue in the past).
The waste is a Crosswater self cleaning vortex style one (think it’s made by Wirquin) to go with the shower tray. It blocked...
I have two separate 4" drain pipes that my fixtures connect to, and I want to move 2 fixtures to the other pipe.
Here is a diagram of the situation. Everything is in the crawlspace, and everything is vertical except for the 2 drain pipes, and the line I want to move.
Will this work? If so...
Today I drained my CH/HW. This is a standard vented, pumped S plan with two electric valves, and I'm in UK.
I was lucky enough to have a drain valve underneath ground floor, relatively accessible, see pics:
However, upon refilling the system, I found out that that valve will rotate...
Hi
sorry for this post which sums up my diy skills. I have an LG washer and on the drain hose it has some kind of no return valve. I want to connect the drain hose to the kitchen sink. Do I just cut the hose to get ridof the valve bit and slide it over the kitchen sink waste pipe secured with...
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a replacement cast iron garage floor drain cover. Mine is severely rusted through. The diameter of the opening is 13 inches and the depth for the legs is 3 inches. I have attached some pictures of the old cover. I have tried home depot and...
Hi, I have been noticing my underfloor heating taking longer than usual to heat up. Decided to take a look at the manifold and noticed the water in all the loops looking a bit worse for wear:
While not super urgent right now, I think I should get that sorted out in the near future. How big a...
My house has a water meter in one of the Plasson internal water meter mounts with drain. I want to do a bit of work near to the meter so the best way to drain would be from the meter drain. However, I can not figure out how it works... there doesn't seem do be a tap. Can anyone explain? Thanks
Hi all,
Looking for some help, I am a complete novice when it comes to plumbing so any help would be appreciated.
Today i had to drain down the central heating system to change a radiator valve in the lounge that's leaking which was fine. But just as i was about to fill the system again i...
Hello,
I am a bit confused with what I "think" is the builder's pre-installed softener drain line.
I opened the wall to see better what is going on. Glad I did.
This is in a garage, and the house is on a slab in SoCal.
First question: Is this 3/4" copper pipe sticking out of wall the...
Hi guys,
I'm not a plumber but I am in the trade so I do have some knowledge, but this one is a bit tricky.
I have an old concrete manhole with an 8" clay pipe drop drain going into it from approx a meter up.
Now someone in their wisdom has joined into this pipe with 6" plastic and just sat...
My sink emits a whiff of something when hot water is used. It isn't the water itself. I've used bleach-based drain cleaners and soda and vinegar to no effect. I took a good look down the drain and found the attached. Whoa.
It isn't scoopable. It feels more like soft rubber and is a single...
Hello, I was wondering how many wraps of PTFE tape you need to use on a threaded drain off valve that is going to be fitted into a Telford horizontal stainless hot water cylinder. Thanks
Towel rail needs to be removed so that new flooring can fit over pipes. Therefore the whole thing needs to come off valves and all so that the pipe ends coming up from the floor are exposed. The bottom compression nut and olive can stay on each pipe as there will be big enough holes in the...
