Hello Plumbers. We had a gas fire fitted, one of those that looks like a log burner. I need to take it out to paint the wall behind. It has a restrictor valve under it but no isolating valve that I can see. Is the restrictor an isolator as well? Should there be a separate isolating valve? Is it...
Evening We have a Worcester Bosch Green Star 24i that keeps cycling on start up, makes some strange noises the inhibition light turns off and then it starts again until eventually lockout and reset. Reset does nothing but restart the process. Pressure is above 1 bar and in the green. It's been...
Hi all,
My customer has a gas fire with an external gas pipe (runs across the front of the fire - see pic).
He'd like a new gas fire. No chance of re-running the pipe through the chimney opening.
Any ideas of a gas fire that would suit? I've looked at a few, but would like the gas connections...
Hi All, we are wanting to download a manual for a gas fire at a house recently purchased. It has been serviced & all ok, but we would like a manual if needed in the future.
Attached are photos of the two plates on the fire.
Thanks in advance
Hi, I have a Kohlangaz Gosford HE gas fire. It has recently been serviced but when it is set to it's lowest heat output setting using the Remote control the heat output now seems excessive compared to that which we have become used to since it was installed in 2017. I contacted the firm who...
I've fitted a completely new burner to a Grant Combi 70 and the motor will not run (so consequently the burner won't fire) despite there being live 230v power to the control box.
I have read the wiring diagrams and even spoken to Grant themselves but I cannot get to the bottom of the problem so...
Hi there

Evening
Changed a guys boiler yesterday. All went ok.
Today he has called and says his gas fire which is a verine dtx500 is making a loud clicking noise and not lighting.
I told him to turn main fuse board switch off then on again which stopped the noise.
When he tried to light it again it...
Hy all,
Do oftec regs allow passing of the oil feed through the foundation wall under floor space if the feed pipe is installed in a fire proof steel tube? I wondered if it would help me overcome an installation problem perhaps with a fire valve at either end of the feed as it enters and exits...
Hi all,
I'm puzzling over a gas fire Valor Homeflame. (I've fixed/serviced quite a few gas fires over the last five years, but am still learning).
Every gas fire I've so far come across has been fixed securely to the closure plate/back wall, so it can't be accidentally pulled out forwards...
If capping a feed to a gas fire in 15mm do you tend to use compression or solderd caps. I know comp. Is OK if accessible. But I prefer solderd caps. But does purging become an issue with solderd caps?
Bit of help on the regulations please?
An external oil boiler (metal case) sited outside the house but contained in a slightly larger wooden enclosure (foot bigger in all directions, ie not a shed).
Would it be acceptable to place the fire valve inside the wooden enclosure?
Morning all,
I'm new and shiny here and seem to have developed a heating problem this morning. Any pointers for a quick resolution would be appreciated as my ears are now hurting!
I have a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 630 driving rads, hot water and underfloor heating in some of the house...
I have an old gas fire which wasn't working well. I asked a plumber to do a CP12 test (£40 as an addition to the boiler test) and tell me what he thought was required. After doing this he said it needed servicing, which would be an additional £60, and then would probably be OK. I went ahead with...
TLDR; Why are modern primatic cylinders unsuitable for use with an uncontrolled heat source?
The scenario: I have a friend (really) that needs a new HW cylinder fitting. Currently there is a 40ish year old 36x18 primatic type cylinder in place (I assume that’s what it is as it is ‘self...
Hi, There are a total of four beds in my gas fire, to which all the individual coals then get located. The front bed is clean broken into almost two equal halves, which unless unbuilding the beds, you wouldn't actually know it is broken. I don't know who made the fire (there's no makers badges...
We have an existing open flame gas fire ( installed years ago) we are now told it needs to be taken out because it is lit by hand and gas regulations say it is illegal, the engineer wouldn’t service it. Our previous gas safe engineer has retired but he never mentioned any problems, they tell us...
Hi Peoples,
came for some wisdom,
currently pricing a job that involves gas mains running through communal corridors underneath the floor and branching off into apartments feeding the meters.
Now i know the regs regarding the pipe has to be welded/threaded steel OR in a fire rated duct and iv...
