I'm looking to fit an external fire valve to an older style 'Rhino' boiler (re-badged Firebird??) Bog standard cast iron, balance flue conventional boiler. I was wondering if a 65 deg fire valve might be prone to nuisance tripping on an older design like this and if so, might it be a better bet...
While doing a job for a customer the other day she asked me for a second opinion on her gas fire which had been capped off. The other guy has quoted £900 to "sort" it and leave working. Now upon inspection of the flue, other than it not being supported properly I can't see much wrong with it. I...

Went to this fire today customer asked me to check as builder prised fire forward to fit new marble panel. The flue is cemented outside so no movement yet I could prise fire forward upto 1" . I used analyser to test around fire case and got 10ppm but air was 20.9 and co2 0. This has puzzled me...
Family member several years ago had a back boiler upgraded to a combi. Fire and bbu still in situ and they've recently asked if I could reconnect the fire for them.
Is it just a case of reconnecting the gas supply and capping gas to the multi gas valve of boiler? Obviously after making sure...
I only ask because I sold one a few yrs back on ebay and it was paid for, but the buyer never actually got in touch to arrange collection

Any one ever seen a restrictor elbow cap become loose and start to leak, went to a job today where we fitted a fire 6-8 months ago and all of a sudden there was a smell of gas, that turned out to be the cap on the restrictor elbow, yet it'd been fine for 6-8 months, I think someone had been...
We have an lfe3 or an lfe5 fire and back boiler, not sure which. The wooden front has been badly damaged in a building project accident.
If anyone has one or is likely to get one, we would love to hear from you as we are not planning to replace our boiler any time soon.
Many thanks.
Andrew.
