is It possible to connect to a open fire already installed to feed gravity hot water and pumped heating , a conventional oil boiler boiler, its in my own house, never done it before , asked some other plumbers and they said that you can do it with a 3 port valve , there must be a way to do it...
Excuse the 1st question of mine asking for help.
Tried searching the net to no avail.
Need to know if this Gas Fire is requiring an Air Vent if we decide to go for cavity wall insulation.
Apparently if its over 6 kw then we need ventilation.
Much appreciate any assistance.

Some history is that one gas engineer (who checked safety after fitting of a new gas meter) in the past said I had to have an air vent fitted in the lounge as gas fire required it, but then another engineer (British Gas) said if it is 7½ bar & below this is not necessary, so blocked the said up...
First of all a Merry Christmas to all
The boiler will start ok from cold but once it's been running a while it goes into the start up sequence with the pump and fan cutting in and then immediately off and keeps repeating this process until it eventually starts up. Both or either MRV's are...
I have got up this morning to a cold house and noticed the boiler was making a noise but was not firing, the oil tank is 3 quarters full and it worked perfectly the night before. The pressure gauge is reading 2.5 bar and the lockout switch is not illuminating. There is water dripping from a few...
I have an interesting problem with Baxi Eco80 boiler which i inherited when i moved into my flat a few month ago.
At first i thought it was the thermostat so i recently replaced it with a 3rd Gen Nest. However its evidently not the thermostat.
Problem occurs when the boiler has been idle...

Hi all, wonder if there's a tradesman on here who has experience of open fires with back boilers. Just moved into A 1980's semi in a rural area, which has a traditional open fire. It obviously has a back boiler as there is a damper. There's a box-in at the side of the chimney breast. Two 22mm...

Hi all,
I've got a theoretical question about servicing gas fires.
When you take the gas fire out of the chimney (to do the smoke test, etc), do you routinely dismantle the pilot/burner pipes and injector and clean them as well? By blowing compressed air through the dismantled pipes?
The gas...
Is it usually considered acceptable for an open-vented gas fire (by which I mean one which vents its exhaust gases up a chimney by natural draught) to have a terminal that will allow a bird into the chimney?
Got a phone call from my mother yesterday. She's not going to be able to meet me...

We have a Kinder Kalahari Power Flue Gas Fire which has a rated maximum heat output of 3.3kW.
We inherited the fire three years ago when we moved to this house and the fire used to give off a good amount of heat. This was demonstrated by our dog getting so hot that he'd have to move to a cooler...

i have an Ashleigh plus focal point gas fire , the pilot light only lights out of the hole that points onto the thermocouple , the hole that points to the gas burner under the coals doesnt light on ignition . This means the fire lights with a " woosh" when the gas finally ignites , and when the...
