Hey,
I'm a new entrant and I've just completed my 2 year training course and have my final week gas assessment next week. I was just looking for some advice on what I can expect? (I'm not asking for answers or cheat sheets, just what the final assessment week intales so I can be best prepared)...
Customer is asking me to remove gas meter and fit it back another day to allow him to have his kitchen fitted.
I checked with Gas Safe and they said I can do it. I'd have thought I wouldn't be allowed to go around removing meters as we're supposed to work downstream only.
What fittings do I use...
Hi there,
Big gas noob here. We got a gas cooker installed a few days ago, and the gas cooker is now sitting quite far away from the wall (3cm which sounds like not much but throws the balance off of the kitchen), which means there's a large gap now between the cooker and the wall, but it now...
Hello all, I'm new on the forum, I'm a gas service and repair engineer rather than a plumber. I used to work for a big company, now self employed. I do some install work too but nothing too big as I work alone and to be honest I'm not quick enough at installation work and not experienced in...
I had a boiler check today all went well, and then he went to check on the gas meter which is in my larder in the kitchen high up on the wall.
That wasn’t too much of an issue, although the gas engineer did say that it wasn’t a common place to have it, but it was there when we moved in so...
Hi!
I am quickly becoming a hobbyist about all things helium. I was hoping someone would be able to answer my questions about pressure reducers. Thanks for your help!
1. Are pressure reducers universal? Can you switch them across different cylinders?
2. If not is there a system for mixing and...
I had to gas rate on an E6 meter in a dark, muddy basement the other day. No place to put down tools.
I stayed there for two minutes only to find out the meter index had not updated at all. Obviously the cooker was burning gas.
I press the red button at the beginning and the end.
Has anyone...
After some advice, had a gas fire removed and now left with the pipe capped and a hole which houses the pipe which was behind the fireplace. How is best to cover this up and fill it please?
Hello,
What would cause an intermittent gas leak around a boiler?
In the evenings there is a strong smell of gas coming from the boiler.
I got a gas sniffer from Screwfix and it detects gas in the kitchen and squeals when near the boiler.
A plumber inspected the boiler, in total they...
Our ~15-year-old boiler just broke down (the spark igniter gave out), and set out a discussion to go ahead and replace it, as it's starting to kettle as well, and it will probably just be downhill from here.

Hi there, thanks for your time to look at this record long post!! I work on the operational management side or a small building contracting firm. This question is for my own house setup.
We are really fortunate to have a large house, about 5,000sqft in total over 3 floors. It was built around...
Morning all,
I am just about to begin doing more installs of combi boilers, I am gas safe but just never really done a lot of installs due to being busy with general plumbing and bathrooms. One question that i have is, when checking working pressure on a boiler with a zero governor what sort...
Hi,
Just after some advice please.
I have a small outdoor gas pizza oven with the below connector.
I also have the below connector (and corresponding gas cylinder) on a camping gas hob I use when we go camping.
My question is, can I cut off the existing connector on the pizza oven gas...
Hey all
Looking for a consensus on an issue that has arisen.
Disclaimer is that my ideal icos 12 boiler Is over 10 years old but has been serviced. It has been presenting intermittent flame issues in sub zero temperatures however I found that insulating the pipe work around the gas regulator...
I have a domestic gas meter located at one side of my building and my boiler/cooker (only 2 gas devices) on the other side of the building. There is currently a 28mm gas pipe from meter to the boiler which is approx 25m and a further 5m to the gas cooker. My gas engineer is saying that the...
Hi I’ve got a couple of gas safety checks coming up and I’m a bit confused as to whether I need to tick yes or no to the appliance serviced part? Does a landlord cert count as a service or does this mean has the appliance been serviced within the past year? Many thanks
