Please can someone help. Plumber came to property and said that the immersion heater is working. We do not have any hot water coming through the taps. He said that he is unable to locate a thermostatic mixing valve in the property which needs to be repaired. Where is this located?
Hi, I have a 6 months old hot water cylinder (vented) to which there are top and bottom immersion rods fitted. Only the bottom was connected so I have just put in a "sink/bath" change over switch.
The bottom one works fine but the top one trips the RCD when the thermostat is in the on...
Evening all,
We have had a Tempest 250l unvented cylinder for just under a year which runs in connection with a boiler.
It is scheduled to come one once a day (6am) for 1hr and it provides the house with hot water for the rest of the day.
I have read on some forums it may be cheaper to run via...
Hi, I bought a 1kw immersion element as I am off grid and need to replace the existing one and use a lower power than 3kw
I have not fitted it yet as some of the rods look too close and may touch with scaling up or a slight bending over time.
The gap is about 2mm.
Is this anything to worry about
Hi
We recently had a horizontal cylinder installed with a main hot water supply from a gas boiler. The immersion heater was hooked up to a solar panel diverter to utilise excess power generated by the panels. This worked great for the first few months, but suddenly the diverter was reporting...
Hi All
I have a 200 litre water cylinder which I heats up the water using my gas boiler.
This was already in my house when I moved in it 3 years ago.
Until recently I have had the timer on from 6am- 9pm every day with temp of around 60 degrees. As I have had my new boiler installed and nest...
I moved house a few months ago and am slowly but surely figuring out its nuances. Wouldn't it be wonderful if houses came with wiring/plumbing diagrams that showed how everything connected? Anyway...
I've got what I understand to be a pretty standard gravity-fed vented heating system, with...
Hello,
I hope someone can help, we recently were forced to move to a ground floor social housing flat because of my partners worsening health condition. It has an assisted shower with a mira advanced thermostatic low-pressure shower unit so hot water for baths isn't a problem.
However, the...
Hi guys.
I have a newish (4 years old) hot water cylinder with 2 immersion heaters fitted.
It has worked fine but yesterday when switching it on it tripped a rcd. I have disconnected the mains from the element put it in terminal strip and tried the switch again and it doesn't trip so I would...
Hi,
Long story short: my boiler (gas, conventional, vented, three port system) has been moved from one side of the house to the other.
Previously the immersion cylinder return was the final tee before reaching the boiler, and all worked fine.
Now the immersion cylinder return is a few tees...
I have a Worcester Greenstar wall mounted Danesmoor oil fired condensing boiler and a separate water heater immersion cylinder (Range Tribune HE). Please can you tell me the following? My house uses electricity and domestic kerosene oil for energy:

Hello all
I have just replaced and relocated a hot water tank and immersion heater. The two were previously connected with 14mm copper and a tap on just near the outlet of each. Obviously the taps used to be opened and closed to take hot water from either the tank or the boiler.
My intention...
I came home to find water dripping from the ceiling! After turning off the water supply I looked in cupboard housing the immersion heater but I could not find the leak - other than what appeared a leak from the immersion heater.
The immersion heater is a tribune premier by IMI Water Heating...
Hello.
Whilst replacing my immersion heater, I came across this washer.
Is it made of asbestos? Is there a way of telling?
The cylinder must be from the 60's or 70's, but I'm assuming the heating element has been changed since then. The existing one's been in place since 2006 at least...
Hi everyone!
There's an annoying drip in the top tank which is constant. It's not overflowed or anything but I am concerned it will. After reading this forum I came to the conclusion it might be a faulty ball valve (simply going off what other people have said about similar issues). I have no...
I have a Worcester Heatslave 20/25 in reasonable shape, and am about to install a load of solar PV on the roof. There will be excess capacity from the solar that I want to divert to an immersion heater to reduce the load on the oil boiler.
I was wondering if I could fit an immersion heater coil...
Hi,
I am looking to build a DIY hot water bath, I was planning on using a small screw plug immersion heater, drilling a hole into a polypropylene tank and using a nut/gasket to seal it.
Recon it could work?
Hi All
How can i tell if immersion heater already fitted to cylinder has a high limit stat, important as new (plastic) CWST being fitted to replace an old rigid asbestos tank. Can post a photo of immersion heater if useful
I do not live in the UK so not always familiar with the right term. My mother has a flat in London that needs a new immersion heater to heat hot water for bathroom and kitchen.. She currently has an electric one that is very old and needs replacing. I went to B&Q, Homebase sites to look for a...
