Afternoon all, and thanks in advance for your help.
About 2 years ago, the immersion heater in our hot water cylinder broke so we had it replaced. Now I can't remember 100% but I'm sure that before the change, when we put the immersion on it didn't make much noise.
Since the change, as soon...
Don't suppose anyone out there has come across this infuriating company who uses non-standard sized immersion elements in their unvented cylinders? The thread is (I think!) 1 3/4" BSP where a standard one is 2 1/4".
Given that I can get hold of replacement elements from PTS but they are £50...
I have just connected up a large immersion heater. A plumber installed this on a house refurb. ( who the owner can't get hold of right now)
The immersion is controlled by a horstmann eco7 with a boost (top element) and economy 7 timer(bottom element)
At first the home owners couldn't get any...
Hi Friends
So, after having no drain tee on a combi tank I put the hosepipe down the cold internal feed and sucked, hey presto after a couple of goes it started to drain, all 100%.

hi all , sent to a job today to change 2 immersion elements in a 210 tank , went there to find the electrician had been before me to tesd them and had told the customer had to have the 2 replaced because they were "blown" and that he would now have to charge for 2 visits, one to test and...

I am having a problem with the thermostat that is located in an immersion heater element fitted to a direct HW cylinder (located in an attic). It operates properly for a few weeks and then for some reason the stat trips. As the element is 27” long I guess that sometimes it can be prone to...
I have fitted 2 immersions to the same cylinder in the last 8 months. Both have blown. They are 11in and bottom immersions on a huge cylinder that takes 3 hours to drain down. My electrician friend has checked it and cannot give an electrical reason for this to happen. Has this happened to...

Economy 7 immersion heater went bang in the night. It is an Hercules Dirrect Copper Cylinder IMI Range with two switches (it is about 20 years old) one at the bottom and one at the top. I have the bottom one switched on all the time as it stores during the night. I still have hot...
hello all,
I have a bit of a unique situation so I was wondering if anyone could give me their professional opinion. I recently finished a tenancy at a rented home. At the beginning of the tenancy, the immersion tank broke but was never repaired. From my understanding the immersion tank was...
Hi all, right, dumbass here will try and relay the problem that I have. House is about 15 years old. Original Ideal Classic boiler in kitchen; honeywell stuff in airing cupboard (immersion, cylinder thermostat and 2- or 3-way motorised valve) and honeywell control in kitchen. I can get central...
Hello, i have a customer who has asked me if i could supply them with a new Immersion heater programmer with a 5 minute boost facility. She used to be on economy 7 and has recently had solar pv and had the economy 7 taken off. She is very conscious about how much electric she will be using so...

Hello all,
My dad is in the process of doing his house up and thought that now would be a good time to replace the 30+ year old immersion heater in his bedroom cupboard. The trouble is, he doesn't know what to replace it with, and nor do I, so I took a picture of it in the hope that someone...

Hi all
Is it cheaper to leave an immersion heater constantly on or switch on to heat when needed? I would say its cheaper to leave it on rather than heat from cold, but a bloke at work reckons its cheaper to use as needed or on a timer.
Thanks in advance
