Hi all,
visited a customer this morning who has had a bill 7 times there normal usage! Leak test fine, standing pressure, gas rate of boiler and cooker absolutely fine. Meter looked fine too. I'm a bit stunned, any ideas?
Hi all
I'm in the midst of starting a fairly large new build property. The main house has a boiler and fire and there is also a separate coach house with it's own boiler. All appliances will be ran from the same meter in the main house (the coach house is approx 5m from meter location)...
At my request, my water company installed a water meter yesterday. The company said it did not need to access the property, so the installation was carried out while I was at work.
When I returned home, there was an air-lock in the pipes, so I ran the water from each tap for a minute or so to...
Hi there,
I am writing a free app which will give a guide as to the purge time required for a commercial gas meter.
So I have determined the installation volume and the total purge volume but I'm looking on how to determine the purge time.
From what I understand, I need to take the largest...
Hi
Has any one got information on track pipe volumes and discharge rates
Currently doing a 3 storey plot of flats with 3 flats per floor , I've been asking from day one on meter locations so we can run gas 1st fix to meter box , no M&E drawings .

Recently I had a gas meter changed, our old one was over 30yr old, and the metal bracket had completely corroded - it was in bits.
After it was changed I checked and noticed they have fitted the new meter to what's left of the corroded bracket.
I've been arguing with First Utility ever since...
Hi first time post,
Got called out on a Sunday regarding a boiler breakdown.
Previous day both electric and gas meters had been changed to smart meters and the boiler had been deemed AR as the pilot would light (electronic ignition) but main burner failed to light.
Inspected the boiler...
So which one should i go for next. I know there must be a thread on it some where but couldn't find it in the search bar.
I know fluke is one and there is another but cannot remember it's name.
Advise please.
Cheers. Hoping to get one in the Black Friday sales
Obviously it needs to be readable and good practise would require you can get at it without damaging anything (albeit it might still be a pain in the rear) but does anyone know if there any other rules water boards tend to have about accessibility? Or other reasons why I shouldn't consider what...
Hello.
Could anyone please advise, if a Smart Meter for the Gas supply to a house would require a connection to its domestic electricity supply?
Thank you, Pete.
Hi All,
I've just moved into an old house which is currently served by an old boiler for central heating and hot water, we estimate it must be about 70m of 28mm pipe to the boiler from the meter across a shared access bit of land. From the name it looks like a 40kW boiler (Chaffoteaux & Maury...
hi lads,
I hope you are all well.
I just wanted to double check with you am I allowed to install a new combination boiler and a couple of rads with a u16 meter and pipesize not bigger than 35mm ?
As far as I know I am allowed up to and including 35mm.

hi all, any advice would be great with this issue

Please see pics. It’s only leaking from bottom nut but tried to repair but keeps leaking
Water authorities called and say it is my problem but can’t get these parts from any...
Moved into a new house this week (new to us, not a new build) and initially had a bit of trouble locating the gas meter. Eventually found it in the kitchen, however it is almost fully enclosed within a plasterboard wall with only the reading display visible and a small hole to reach the gas tap...
Hi,
I have just had a recessed gas meter box installed in preparation of being connected to the mains gas.
The spigot has not been fitted exiting the rear of the box. It is a low pressure so would have expected this to have been fitted.
Can this be retro fitted and by who? Is there any harm...
Good evening all.
I currently have my gas meter on one corner of my property (front left), which serves a boiler in the garage which is on the diagonally furthest corner of the house from the meter (rear right). The pipework connecting the two is 28mm/22mm copper which is on the external walls...
