Shower mixer failure - replace or fix?

On bad advice our builder installed a no brand/cheap built in shower mixer in our new bathroom 5 years ago. It has stopped working - and the water is almost impossible to adjust to the right temperature - and changes temp when other taps in the house are turned on/off. We have been told that...

Mains cold water knocking out gravity hot water in bath shower mixer

Hi all. My customer has a bath shower mixer that gets cold from the mains and hot from a vented cylinder and the cold knocks out the hot. I'm thinking about putting in a thermostatic bath shower mixer but would appreciate any other ideas! Cheers all/

    Bath mixer

I have what appears to be a little used bath taps/mixer with shower outlet, without connecting it all up, I notice the collar that obviously diverts the flow to a shower head, does not stay in place when pushed down. Would this be different when connected and with water pressure, or is it...

    Kitchen mixer taps (lifespan/brands/prices/variants)

My kitchen mixer tap (Franke Zurich) has developed a drip. Presumably the cartridge (hot) has started to wear out. It is one that I replaced about 3 and half yrs ago for the same reason (not sure how old its predecessor was as we inherited it). Doesn't seem a particularly great lifespan, but I'm...

    Bar mixer shower replacement issue

My mixer bar shower gave up the ghost on its thermostatic mixer valve, so the water wouldn't heat up. I was advised to replace the mixer bar so I got a Briston Frenzy. It requires me to screw in a mounting plate over the existing pipes. However, the previous installed mounts are directly...

How do you change the washer on this type of kitchen mixer tap?

Hi All, Kitchen mixer tap (see image) is dripping and it's driving me nuts! I can't find a good enough description of the type of tap it is to find a link on You Tube and work out how to change the washer. Any links or generic advice on what needs to be done to change the washer (after I've...

How would you replace this kitchen tap mixer?

I need to replace my kitchen tap and these are the existing pipes - any suggestions? I was going to cut just above the connection with a pipe slice, install the new tap with flexi pipes and then connect it up with compression fittings/PTFE tape. Does that sound sensible?! Thanks.

    Mixer Shower Fitting Advice

Hi All, I am having a problem with fitting a mixer shower in our spare bathroom, I live in a new build flat (6 years old) and the shower that was originally on there was forced on, which is why it always leaked on the left side because the threads never truly lined up. I took the shower...

    Anybody Recognise This Mixer Tap?

Hi Guys, I'm sure some of you will have seen it before, usual merchant didn't recognise it! It was installed with the wash bin in my gf en suite WC & Shower about 30 years ago, I have maintained it when it started passing a couple of times but only by dismantling, clean & reassembly. Before...

John Sydney / Bristan Mixer Identification

Hi, I'm struggling for months to get help on identifying a shower mixer. Bristan just say they are busy for months. Can anyone help me identify the type of mixer? We think it is an 06734b. Mixer Tap Removal please help

Hi Please can some advise how I remove the mixer tap above these images. This retaining bracket is fixed on well and I don’t think there will be room for it to spin around. The hot water flexi seems to have come loose from the tap as it is leaking quite heavily. Unless something has failed...

Changing cartridge - Deva Metropolis sink mixer tap

Hi all, Happy New Year. It was suggested in another thread that turning the handles on this tap type (Deva Metropolis MET172 monobloc sink mixer tap) would allow me to remove the handle and change the cartridge. It's not budging, even after some WD40. Any other thoughts, or do I just...

What size pipe for shower mixer

Hi there! First post, so go easy on me. Please could I have some advice? I’m over-thinking something and it seems the type of HW system has a bearing on what size pipe is best for certain applications, so what better place to ask this question than a plumber’s forum? I have an unvented HW...

Safe silicone grease for kitchen mixer tap.

Hi Guys, We have a leaky kitchen mixer tap here which seems to be being caused by the plastic mixer valve/cartridge. I had a search for the serial number but couldn't find anything matching so I thought I would take the valve apart, clean it and grease it up to see if that sorts it out. As it...
