Do you know why some 110 mm soil pipe fittings are easy to push into the soil pipe, whilst other fittings are much, much harder to get in, given that they all need to do the same job of making a gas tight and water tight seal?
Recently I found that I could easily push into the soil pipe the end...
I'm looking to connect an upstairs toilet into an existing ground floor soil stack. Is the solution I've drawn out possible or does the soil stack vent need to be above the connecting appliance still?
Red is the proposed new pipework and brown the existing.
Let me know any questions.
We've just had a new toilet installed and the new toilet's waste pipe is lower than the cast iron soil pipe. My installer has used a flexi pipe to connect the toilet waste upwards to the soil pipe. Am I right to be concerned about the upwards connection, and the use of a flexi pipe? The cast...
I'm replacing a toilet pan & the current install has a pan connected to the soil pipe with a flexi wate, but the pan exit is almost 100% lower than the soil pipe entry. Short of setting the pan on plinth, what would be the correct install?
Hi All,
I am adding an ensuite to our bedroom. The new 110mm soil pipe run (Grey in diagram) is approx 6m long and enters the building beneath a timber suspended floor. The 90 degree bends are swept.
I am assuming it would be a good idea to vent the pipe above the new toilet with an air...

Hi there,

We are installing a new ensuite on the top floor of a victorian terrace. Soil stack is to the rear and we need a 11-12 meter horizontal run with two vertical drops. I understand the fall required for the horiztonak run, I just need to know if I need to add a top vent- see picture
Or can I get...
Hi folks.
Is it OK for me to run 21.5mm boiler condense pipe into strap boss for 110mm upvc? No smells should come back in I'm assuming?
Any suggestions where to buy adapters? Ideally all solvent weld as will be internal of property.
Thanks very much
I need to take a soil pipe through a vertical tile hung gable wall at my own house, does anyone know the best way of sealing it and making a good job of cutting the tiles? I wonder if there is a flashing of some sort on the market that might fit? Has anyone had to do this, if so what did you do?
Hi guys,
Currently trying to test sanitary wear on a big site and obviously getting problems everywhere.
Recently left for a week and came back and was given different testing gear. All of a sudden when I'm testing I'm getting the reading on the gauge going up!? I've checked all the valves on...
Good morning, I'm looking for some advice please. I'm a DIYer. I'm fitting a wall hung toilet in our downstairs toilet but the frame is very close to the soil pipe, it has to be really for it to work. My issue is (other than not planning it well) the soil pipe alignment. Pics below:
As...
I have a situation where my bathroom WC discharges into a 90 degree bend and a pipe then runs along the wall before discharging into a soil stack. The fall in the pipe from the bend to the stack is not ideal and although (at the moment fortunately) I do not have a blockage, I think that there...
So I’ve got a new house and the previous owner had left the soil stack in a state, apparently there was a plant growing inside so this was his fix.

Evening all, I’ve been asked to replace a cast iron stack on a listed building. The customer has ordered the required materials, I’ve just got to install it. What’s the modern day method to seal the joints?
Thanks
