Hi all,
Need some advice
We have just had a new gas heating system installed in our Housing Association bungalow,
on the outside wall near the boiler is a copper vent pipe in 15 mm copper pipe and elbows,
We had the same setup at our previous house it is for (I think ) any overflow of liquid...
I think my heating system is sucking air in through vent pipe.
My heating system is as follows, boiler, pump, motorised valves then I think the vent pipe is after these. Does this sound wrong. I've taken a picture but Iam having trouble uploading it. Thanks
My stack appears to vent into the loft, presumably using an air admittance vent, as there are no odours coming from it until you lift off the vent. Can this just be teed into with a new branch waste pipe (inc. toilet and shower waste) or would I have to extend the pipe to the outside?
Some history is that one gas engineer (who checked safety after fitting of a new gas meter) in the past said I had to have an air vent fitted in the lounge as gas fire required it, but then another engineer (British Gas) said if it is 7½ bar & below this is not necessary, so blocked the said up...
Hi. I posted this to relevant thread few days back but there was no response so I'm trying a new thread.
I have gravity system with solid fuel stove and oil boiler with dual coil cylinder. Everything worked fine until I replaced the oil boiler with an air to water heat pump. The new heat...
Hi Everyone

I'm after a bit of advise please.
I'm replacing a heat only boiler, the existing setup was gravity hw and pumped ch.

The existing cold feed and vent are teed into the hot water flow and return in the...
Hi,
The vent pipe on our heating system pushes hot water into the header tank , usually in the middle of the night and quite noisily. Is this normal?
A couple of years ago we had a new boiler fitted. With the old boiler hot water was gravity heated. The new system is fully pumped with a Y...

Any easy ways to identity which vent pipe is which in the case? Both hw vent and heating expansion both go into the f & e. Don't often work with vented system much so any tips and tricks are appreiciated! Been dealing with loads of tasty blockages and air locks :(
The idea is to seal the...
Hi all very little to no knowledge of these but the customer has no power to display.
I opened up, there is power to board, using volt pen no power to smaller control board.
I'm no expert so was wondering if there are any glow worm experienced peeps out there to advice on if this is likely...
Hi
I am hoping for some advice or knowledge about sewer vents.
Recently I have been hearing a metallic sound in the cupboard where the vent pipe is.
The pipe is metal and runs from the bottom of house and through the roof.
The noise isn't persistent and happens sporadically.
I am wondering...
I'm guessing not. Looked like someone had put a compression coupler on it (it was already fine, terminating inside f+e) and stuck another bit of pipe almost reaching bottom of tank. What am I missing? Removed it.
Hi all
I've got a close loop hot water system and am losing pressure: about 2 bar every week or two. This made me look for an issue and the automatic vent valve appears to be leaking: there is limescale on the brass, there was evidence of water damage to the ceiling below it, and a towel I put...
Hi guys went to a job about a month ago, 2 port was not working so replaced. Customer said occasionally the overflow drips from the f and e, I checked it ball valve is fine. Water was coming from the vent pipe, ran the heating to confirm and it started happening.
i turned the pump speed down to...
When removing a old gravity system, is there a way of replacing with a conventional boiler with out compromising the open vent....
Many old gravity systems have the two heating pipes and two primary pipes at the boiler, then the feed and o/v coming off the top of the primarys at the cylinder...
Here is a diagram of my upstairs bathroom which I am renovating. Can someone please tell me where the best place is for the vent pipe(s). I have looked at Building Regs and it suggests they can be placed on all appliances but this will create a lot of work and I will have to rethink the layout...
Looking at replacing a normal radiator with a modem taller vertical type in my son's bedroom. As top of new radiator will be higher than the system vent and pump, will this cause a problem? Or do I need to extend vent pipe to be highest point?
I have uncovered a bag full of these at my unit and was wondering if anybody could shed any light on what they actually are?
