S plan+, three 2 port zone valve is the easiest. Think you can do it with 3 port and 2 port but need a separate relay, Only heard of it once and the electrician sorted it. Its not quite the same on unvented, as the 2 port is wired directly to the vessels overheat stat, not interlocked with the boiler.

i was under the impression it had to interlock with the heat source

Apologies, having a dull moment, still it stops the vessel from over heating. Interlock with the boiler a good thing.

Thanks for all the replies.

Well things have progressed, but not in the way i hoped.

He basically told me to sling my hook and look up plumbers in yellow pages. Shocking really, and he seemed such a nice guy at the time and came recommended.

My one concern is however, after speaking to building control for my area and Gas safe about getting a copy of the certificate as I still have not received one. I have been informed that he did not register the pressured cylinder. I have been told it is a legal requirement and something only the installer can do. I have been told that I am currently liable for not having a certificate.

I am not convinced he will do it so may have to pursue this further. Any thoughts?

I have a friend who lives a good drive away (3 hours) but is G3 and Gas safe registered and will convert my system to an S-pipe system and get everything checked over.

Cheers.

I tend to agree. Although I do not taint all plumbers with the same brush, it has made me so much more cautious for the future.

Report him to building control for a non compliant install. Also send recorded letter. It's building controls issue if you can prove u paid him for the job!!!

however, the person overall responsible for ensuring compliance with building control is the home owner, bc wont give a hoot about a plumber doing non compliant work, for that you need to talk to trading standards..

If the installer was pretending to be competent or carried out work that are deemed below the standards as specified in the building act then they are supposed to!

Cheers for the comments guys.

Well i dont intend on going all hell blazing, but i shall talk to trading standards.

I dont hold grudges even though i was treated awfully. But my major concern are two things:

1) I know the install is safe as it has been confirmed by my friend who is G3/Gas safe registered. But if there is an issue at all, my current house insurance could be void.

2) what if he does this to other people?

I will keep you posted.
