3/4 inch red tap washers

went to see about a leaky bath tap the other day and found the old cast iron bath with what looked like the origional taps.

after finaly getting the siezed handle & corroded screw appart etc. i found the washer was the old red style slightly thicker than the black 3/4 washers of today and by the looks a lot more durable. i asked the customer if this was the first time for the washer to be changed and he could not remember it being done in the past (in his 60's) so i sorted him a new black washer out but just want to know do the red washers still get made or not -- as i said they look a bit more durable

we used to get red washers for hot water and black for cold the rubber back then wasnt as heat resistant as now

Apparently you can still buy them which surprised me.

suprised me as well m8 not tht i see many single taps now all crappy shed mixers round here

Last ones i saw Steve were in an old biscuit tin in the shed. Had them since i was an apprentice :lol:
