3/4 inch red tap washers

View the thread, titled "3/4 inch red tap washers" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

went to see about a leaky bath tap the other day and found the old cast iron bath with what looked like the origional taps.

after finaly getting the siezed handle & corroded screw appart etc. i found the washer was the old red style slightly thicker than the black 3/4 washers of today and by the looks a lot more durable. i asked the customer if this was the first time for the washer to be changed and he could not remember it being done in the past (in his 60's) so i sorted him a new black washer out but just want to know do the red washers still get made or not -- as i said they look a bit more durable

Last ones i saw Steve were in an old biscuit tin in the shed. Had them since i was an apprentice
