The LSA is just another so called governing body that is basically a clique and exists so that:
a) Its members pay extortionate membership fees.
b) In paying the above, contracts are kept solely to it's members.
It's like being in the Masons or in a club where if you're not a member, you're not wanted.
The original LSA was set up to promote good practice with sheet lead. I'm not a member but worked for a company that was and I've used lead that doesn't even have a British standard (code 10) in some of the most important historical buildings in Scotland to a extremely high standard. Now I can't work on these buildings, because some muppet from a organisation wants two and half grand from me. Think not!
