Advice on new boiler

Hi all

I live in a flat where the boiler is located in a central cupboard with a horizontal flue in the ceiling that runs out to the outside through the bathroom. I have an old Powermax boiler but it's about time to replace it so I've been looking at the options. A couple of engineers have told me the only boiler I can have without moving the boiler location (which is impossible) is a Keston. Alternatively I could either have a Worcester/Vaillant but this would mean creating a large ugly box in the bathroom ceiling to allow the flue to run at an angle which ruins the look of the room, or I could have an electric boiler which I don't want to do for electricity cost reasons and because that would involve running wires around the hall which will also look ugly.

So ideally I would like to get a new Keston, the trouble is that they seem to have a bad reputation so I am really concerned about what to choose as I seem to be between a rock and a hard place. On the other hand I've seen others saying that the new ones are fine, and the negative reviews do seem to be mainly pre-2012 and certainly before they took over Ideal.

Has anyone had any experience of the newer models please?

New kestons are fine 🙂
Or atag can do this too. (My preference) but those engineers are likely to know know kestons!
you will find some guys who will only fit a worcester or vaillant and refuse to fit anything else!

how accessible is the outside?

you'll need the ceiling to come down to put a new flue in

inspection hatches for the joints too.

if so where are you located?

also ideal took over keston, for their flue system domestically and their light commercial range.
keston were small fry...

Baxi also offer a twin-flue option so you're not just restricted to Keston. Billy is right, the new Kestons are a different beast from the old models.

Where are you located? I've had a lot of experience replacing Powermaxes.

I have a lot of money due to power max ! Flats and modern developments . Thanks ! I would say 100% keston.... It's an ideal logic !
