Hey all, just an average dude needing some advice if possible :confused5:
Okay, so we noticed the living room ceiling has a spreading mark/stain on Tuesday of this week which looked like a leak must be happening somewhere above. Called a plumber, who is a friend of a friend, and as he was on holiday one of his other guys came out and said it was the shower leaking in the bathroom, directly above the living room. He disconnected the shower etc and said the problem was fixed. When he left we noticed the toilet no longer worked, as he must of messed it up when looking at it when he was trying to find the leak.
Anyhow.....that evening we saw the mark on the ceiling getting bigger and other marks started appearing. Obviously he did not find or fix the leak. The next morning the water was coming through the ceiling, so we called him and he came out yesterday and spent ages trying to find where the leak was. Eventually he found a leaking pipe just above the mark on the ceiling which is directly under the toilet in the bathroom. As apparently it is old plastic piping from the seventies he had to order a new piece and said he would be back at 8am this morning to repair. He also said he did not break the toilet, it was already broken????? So, he did not turn up this morning and when i called the senior man he said they had ordered the part and it might take a few days and when the part comes, as soon as they are free they will come and do it.
In other words, it could be monday of next week that the part comes and we would have had water coming out of the ceiling for 6 days with no fix. i assumed they could of used something [tape/silica] to temporarily stop the leak, but nothing was done. We are left with the kids running round a giant bucket in the living room as water comes out. Slowly but surely I am getting wound up and concerned it could get much worse, and so wondered what I should do? I guess if they do not come back or take ages etc, I will need another option. Any ideas or thoughts on how I should handle this situation are gratefully received.
Thank you in advance 🙂
