Any wise souls out there know of any crane or barrel lifters to get the hot spots out of an aga and maintain a complete spine! I know of one guy on u tube whos making his own and another at Aga spares for a ridiculous sum of money. Otherwise I'll be off the the blacksmith with my own design if I cant find a cheaper ready made version..

no responses, no worries, found one off the net £160 all in, bargain and the backs fine!

Mate works for oil company doing aga servicing, they provided him with one, and it never leaves his shed, reckons its too big and unwieldy, and has concerns it may damage the enamel on top plate.

Personally never felt the need for one, solid fuel ones can be a bit of a pain though arm through the feed hold and lift from the bottom of barrel works for me.

3 prolapsed discs is too much of a pain for me, I'd rather be able to walk and carry it to and from the van. Plus on the odd occassion the idiot customer doesnt turn it off in time, you can still lift out the barrel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHMmztzGSLY and watch him drag it over the enamel!!

Hate seeing anything put on the top plate, he did make a meal of lifting it out, why on earth did he climb on the top!

I once got my customer to lift it out ...!!

And he did!!!

(Just something I'd learned a few years previously that most back injuries occur in the early morning before your body's warmed up properly - bit like vehicle engines really.)

some of the farmers wives would be good for that, but not the little old ladies with imaculate top covers I have been to recently
