Air lock in hot water

I have recently replaced the hot water cylinder in a standard indirect open vented system.

Since replacing it, I keep having trouble with air locks. I can clear them by using the cold water connection method, but they keep recurring eveery few days. There were no problems before I changed the tank. What could I have done wrong? No major changes made to pipework.

Air must be getting in somwhere, but there are no apperent leaks. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Thank you, I am right that if the gate valve that feed the cold water into the cylinder were faulty, air could be being drawn in through the xpansion pipe?

Thanks again for yout help.

Thanks, sorry if I am being stupid, But I still don't see how air is getting in then?
Should the hot water take off pipe at the top of the cylinder slope away from or towards the cylinder. I have heard that this can be a cause?

Thank you

i'm sure it can slope up slightly so any air in the tank can escape up the vent not good to have downwards slope as air will collect at top of tank. can you post some pics of what you can get at.
