Hi There

I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem we've got. All our radiators work but there are 2 upstairs (out of 4) that constantly need bleeding, they work ok then need bleeding again within a couple of days.
I don't know whether this is relevent but I don't think the TRVs work on any of the radiators, someone at work told me they are probably clogged up and need to be taken off and cleaned??
Anyway i'm not too bothered about the TRVs atm, i'm more concerned with the radiators.
Can anyone help???

Thanks

No we haven't done any, except when we moved in there was an economy 7 heater in the hall (controller in the airing cupboard) that we removed.

your best option is to get engineer out ,but you could go in the loft and have a look inside your small water tank ,and see if the bottom is full of sludge, you can turn off the water supply to it and then go and drain some water out of you central heating and go back up if the water is still in the tank then definitely is sludge up,then your option is to call engineer to power flush your system and cut and repair the blocked section .

Ok, I think we'll get someone out at some point, I was hoping it was a simple issue to resolve but obviously not. Many thanks for all your help 🙂

You might try putting sludge mobiliser in the little tank in the loft NOT the big one and leaving it there for a few weeks then see if it works better

agree with chk ,but you will need to drain a small amount of water out of the system first, you could (roughly) prove if you have a corrosion issue by (very carefully) the next time you vent set fire to the air but you have to be quick if it burns its nitrogen,a by product of corrosion if this is the case you need a de scale
