Hi
no hot water or heating on a alpha 240 eco

you put demand on for hot water and the boiler fires up for about 5-10 secs sometimes a little longer but not much then goes out , water just goes a little warmer ,then runs cold, the boiler tries to fire up with intermitent intervals but just keeps going out.

on central heating it is the same the flow pipe get quite warm just starts to get to first rad not far away, then the boiler just goes out and also tries to refire every 2 to 4 minutes but just goes out after 5 - 10 seconds

could it be the modulating coil on gas valve or not

any ideals please

First thing to check is that no one has put something against the boiler flue outside or has not been knocked
then could be air presure switch or flame detection
would not think it is gas valve or coil

sounds like somethings bloked or poor circ

according to fault finding if you assume the boiler lights on either hot water or central heating .
it says air pressure switch has proved to be ok.
burner lights
burner modulates to maintain temp
well that we be a no goto section g which says checks on pcb seemed ok
modulating coil fautly cold resistance approx 40 ohm replace coil
so does that mean 40 ohm it is faulty or thats what it should be and anything else means it is faulty.

checking hot water fault find and this is the same but with an extra bit of reduce flow rate to 5 litres a min still not modulating clean dhw temp sensor and dhw heat exchanger. so if this was the case would the central heating still not work!!!
