I use my bung kit all the time, saves loads of time. I haven't had one fall out as of yet maybe I'm just lucky lol.

Not sure how much but you can get them in plumb centre or most other suppliers.
the jet swet as mentioned look a good tool, but pricey.
a cheaper alternative is the monument set, get from screwfix, corgi etc

the vent is easily sorted with a speed fit stop end, or a vegetable of choice,
except not a leek, that sounds ill fated.
