hi how can one tell if analyzer needs re calibrated? iv a kane 425 and seems to be giving a ratio of 0.000. when it feels like it sometimes a ratio will show but then disappear , with a 30 ppm co surely it should be giving me a ratio, this has only started happening and on my last service the c02 was looking like this _^_ as i can remember. any ideas or is this common with needing recalibrated

thanks

You should have a calibration certificate with your analyser which says the date of the last calibration. A calibration is done yearly.

happy days, just never seen one behave like that ill get her sent away away.never had a cert mikey, the analyzer was handed down to me.i never owned one until last march., 198 quid holy molly, would b better getting a new one

think it would be better just to get another one and keep old one, then send it in for calibration during the year. i want a new bike too, hate wen this happens lol

on your menu set up on your analzer it will show how many days to calibration, also sticker on unit with date will confirm this.

Kane sent me a offer of a new Kane 455, £319+Vat or have my one repaired, I chose to have mine serviced!!

Wish I'd had that offer yesterday. My Testo has gone wrong and I will get it seen to/repaired soon. In the meantime I ordered a Kane 455 (apparently I can use my Testo printer!) and the bill was around £470 (including a suitcase for it). I need it for next week and it was quicker to buy one than have my Testo repaired.

Kevin at GES UK only charges 40.00 od quid for a service wether testo/kane or anton and no work is carried out untill you autorise it!
Also they will collect from u and supply u with a unit to use while yours is away, for a small charge!
Excellent service too!

hi all, i am new to the industry and just wanted to ask about a reading i got on my anton sprint v3. i was taking a fga reading on a main 24he-a and got 0.0007 but in the mi it states it to be no higher than 0.004 any help would be much apreciated.

if you have had it since last march and it was second hand it would needed to be calibrated by the last owner just before you gotit, which is unlikely, so it could be nearly 2 yrs since it was properly checked, and why did the last guy give you a fully working analyser? you could be risking peoples lives by saying their appliance is safe when you have no idea if it is safe or not, please take care with things like this, if you were involved in an incident that was proved to be a CO poisoning after your FGA said it was ok you wouldn't have a leg to stand on as you are not using a calibrated bit of kit, a gas engineer should know better than do this, have you done CPA1?

assuming you have typed the correct readings what is your issue? max is 0.004 you have a reading of 0.0007 (which is about 1/5th)

if its a main band a 0.0004 or under if its a main band b 0.0002-0.0003 when clean and pressures within spec no quote is given in mi,s for the band b but i service these all the time, this is the reading i expect after a full strip down service which is essential on a band b,a 30 kw band b i would expect 0.0006-0.0007 so if your talking band a its way out but did you carry out the fga (if band a) in service mode?

my issue is the reading, is the fga reading 0.0007 lower than the stated 0.004 stated in the mi? am i getting confused with the 0's??

as said have you done cpa1? or were you rushed trough it and have not really learned anything? be honest here is the place to ask

im not going to lie, i have my cpa1 but there was literally no training? any help would be appreciated.

right buy corgis using portable electronic combustion gas analysers-servicing and maintenance it will explain a lot,you are asking how to use it properly in my book you have a conscience and want to learn the best attributes you could have

you kinda dont seem to know what you are doing, the max reading is 0.004 so you need to confirm the actual reading is better or worse, ie safe or dangerous, so with a reading of 0.004 what is safer 0.005 or 0.003, i hope you will say 0.003 as it is lower ie nearer zero, so back to 0.004 what is safer 0.003 or 0.0007, hopefully the 7 isnt confusing you as there is another zero in there it is far lower than 0.003 ideally we want a reading of 0.00000000000000 you wont get that but the nearer to 0.000 the better, get some training notes at least or get yourself on CPA1 course, i have heard a few folk slagging it but it does teach those that need to learn the basics at least

send me a PM with an email address and i will send you some training notes, they might help but have a read then get back on here, we are always ready to help (as long as you can take a bit of a ribbing as well haha)

You could try JMW Ltd. I think they're about the least expensive. I was recommended to them from another poster here and so far I'm very happy. (Around £80 to calibrate a Testo, including postage. I've just bought a Kane455 for about £470 inc VAT and case and have seen prices much more than this.)

That is not the price for a Kane calibration ! Kane do as most others do take the analyser then let you know what wants done, get your authorisation and then proceed. I would guess that something is being replaced for that price.

I know Kane have a fixed price calibration for the 455 of £85 per year for first 5 years as that particular model has long life sensors. (why would anyone buy anything else? Great bit of kit!) Charge a bit more for the 425 though.

fair enough then, just concerned that you were taking reading from a machine which will risk people and leave you out on a limb,
