I have been using adwords for over 5 years. In as much as I suspected that I was being ''scammed'' out of my hard earned cash, I had no proof so just went along with it. When I reduce my payment per click amount to something like £0.50 or less, google quickly send me a mail telling me that I am loosing out on potential customers etc, so I stupidly bumb it up again.
Then in February, I got a call from a google agent. They can get me to do over and above what I want from my campaign. When I asked how much this will cost? £300/m. I declined. He then informed me that click per campaign advertisement is only good for a large business, not a small outfit like mine. ''Who advised you to advertise using clicks?'' he asked.
I hung up the phone. They tried to call but I just ignored them. When my money ran out, I just decided never to top it up again despite their constant mail reminders.
In my opinion, I reckon 50% of the clicks are from your competitors, 30% from website developers trying to sell you something or other, 15% from curious browsers, and a mere 5% from genuine ''customers''. My view, don't waste your money.
