Are ASHP prices falling ?

View the thread, titled "Are ASHP prices falling ?" which is posted in Renewables on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hi, Our church is consdering replacing our old gas boilers with modern condensing ones. We would like a hybrid system involving the use of an ASHP. Two of the contractors that have supplied quotes for the work have suggested that we wait for a while on the ASHP as the prices are falling. The other doesn't believe that they are and, in fact, may be rising. Anybody got any advice on the matter ?

Atm price rises as it’s a new thing for the uk it’s not in mass rollout also not many service engineers as it requires being f gas qualified

No real world data,
But it's unlikely prices are falling, there's still a world parts / materials supply issue especially electronics and it's not likely to be resolved within the next 2 years.
Even if Russia / Ukraine / China and all the other World issues settle down or resolve the best that would happen is prices would not rise.

New car manufactureres are stop start with production at the moment and some cannot give dates for delivery of new cars, all due to electronic chip and other part shortages.

Additonal manufacturing plant for electronic chips is due to come online in the next few years, but guess what, they're stuck in the queue waiting for chips for the machinery.

If you've got gas, stick with it, it's not going away for years yet.
And if you want to make a Green statement, get Solar panels, ASHP is very expensive to run compared to gas and in a conversion may not give the performance required.

Concern about performance of ASHP is reason for going hybrid (and on it's own, a smallish installation would not have the capacity) So, making provision for ASHP installation in the new pipework might make some sense, but delay taking that leap until we see what way prices are headed ? Yes ? We currently have some PV panels and could increase on another roof (but may run into planning problems as it is a listed building !!
