Assistance with an issue I have with a toilet float valve?

View the thread, titled "Assistance with an issue I have with a toilet float valve?" which is posted in Boiler Advice Forum on UK Plumbers Forums.

I have moved into a property and amongst several other issues, the toilet float valve appears to keep getting stuck and therefore prevented from filling.

I am unsure what type of float valve I have.

Each time I push the top part of the float (pictured on the left) it then starts to fill.

I am really confused as I have bought a float valve (£26) from B&Q and it doesn’t fit in the toilet so will need to buy another one as the packaging has been destroyed.

Can anyone please help me with this. I have attached an image.

What float valve did you purchase from B&Q? Did it not fit because of size? The inlet size could be 3/8”.
