any ideas guys got call out this morn to boiler with flashing flame failure
checked gas all ok pressure ok
checked for blocked condensate all clear
rang baxi tech did some tests they said pcb changed that 107.00 still same
rang back did some resistance checks on gas valve told to change that another 107.00
still same rang back to technical told it could be a spark generator that plugs on gas valve
and it could have blown the new board i fitted
i have been given the run around from baxi today and blown half day labour and 214.00
i feel stupid as boiler is still broke
any advice will be good

ap switch has failed common fault get a adjustable from abkot

but just in case its reversed polarity which i assume you have checked as this will instantly blow your new board

tested air pressure and it seems to be working in sequence fan comes on to full rate but no spark it goes through the full sequence to fire but stops with no spark could it still be switch i trust you more than the baxi guys
you are like wikipedia of the heating world

also the old glow worm you helped me with thanks i am fitting a new combi later in the week so alls well that ends well with that

if you join the gas safe registered only forum on here some of the common faults are flagged up i dont know if you need to build your post counts up just post your gs number to admin dan or dave

maybe order one of these as well, will save you a lot on mis-purchased materials

hi puddlei got a multi meter i gave all the readings voltages and resistance to the guys at baxi and followed there advice on the parts i think they had my pants down i suggested something simple like ap switch but they said no way it was working or fan would not work so i trusted them

Martindale Ring Main Tester
and one of these if its on a 3 pin plug it will tell you instantly if the polarity's reversed on the baxi 105/80he,main and performa if its a ap switch or polarity issue it will go strait to lock out,but one of these or a multi meter will tell you instantly if thats the case the most common reason polarity would be reversed is custards adding new points and getting it wrong etc and they often lie when asked

dont trust baxi tech, they wont admit theres a ap switch issue they have now modified it

why could baxi tech not be straight and just say if they have a issue i would save money
i will post my findings tomorrow
thanks for all advice you guys are heros

cheers gas man i use a kewtech one very similar

thought you would, try abkot for the aps they are adjustable fire it up with the combustion door off then refit it and try it on dhw if the settings in spec it will work if not it will fire crash, fire, crash etc just adjust till you get it right worth carrying the multifit adjustable as van stock many boilers use the honeywell aps

another strange fault on this boiler, did you carry out a continuity test first or see if it was arking out? your original post did not say it was not sparking with this boiler this fault is almost always the aps

no i said it did everything except spark and ignite my tester was giving incorrect voltage and continuity readings so i was misonformed by the manufacturer as to the faults i got a new tester the next day and everything tested ok i had ordered the aps and a spark lead so i could try them both spark lead first and it worked so the dodgy tester had me over

so you have picked a predictable boiler with predictable faults and managed to find 2 very unusual faults for that brand........unlucky son welcome to fault finding that aps you bought wont be in stock long well done

tell me about it this learning curve is awesome have you seen my thread on the vokera i must attract crazy boiler problems
but to be honest i cant solve this one its fried my head
