Best/worst tools

Whats the best/worst tool you have purchased?

Put pressure on the tip and it comes out the back.

Get a screw & screw it in the back of the pencil a few threads to stop the lead pushing up inside the pencil. Seen a builder do that.

My best tool I feel is the one that does the impossible - my Fein multi tool. Great for floorboards on top of joists or up to skirtings, or solid backs of kitchen units, plywooded stud walls, etc. Nothing else can do the same.
Worst tool was probably a Nutool rotary hammer drill. Piece of junk that stopped hammering.

i love my knipex cobras.
i also love my recip saw, its like a awesome saw/light saber combination.good fun.

i detest pointless tools (i dont own any) such as silicone cartridge openers, olive removers etc.

worst tool i own, normal channel lock grips, wera screwdrivers (great quality but somehow always seem either too big or too small for the screw.

i buy staedler hb pencils in boxes of 50 from ebay about 12 quid leads dont fall out

I normally buy my pencils from the pound shop. It doesn't matter if they only last a day as I usually lose them in a few hours! I even cut them in half so they last longer.

Yellow and black are the paler h type and red and black are the darker b type iirc

Got to disagree on that - now. Never had any until a few months ago when I had a few jobs replacing rad valves in houses. SO much quicker!

I've got the monument olive cutters 8,10,15,22 but still used adjustable to rattle a 22mm olive and nut of this morning

Complete rhubarb.
Only useful about ten percent of time. Usually the nuts are overtightened and the pipe is strangled by the olive. They will only come off a straight pipe and I can use my grips for that just as quickly

Best would be my Record pipe benders that my dad bought me when I started my apprenticeship. Still going strong.

Worst would be cheap hacksaw blades.

Favourite Tool - Lenox Hacksaw - its a beast
Worst Tool - Stanley Pliers - came free with something else, cant even grip hard enough to hurt your hand, i tried!

Best tool: Milwaukee m18 sds. So handy to just pull out and whack out a hole. Saving time setting up leads and will drill pretty much anything considering its weight.

Favourite: love the newer rothenberger waste slices. Fly through in one turn leaving a perfectly cut end.

Worst tool: anything from hold on! AVOID

I've got 15 and 22 slices by hold on and they have lasted longer than my rothenberger.

I've got to disagree, I've never found a better pipe slice that the Nerrad versions, they give an almost square cut with little burring, and I don't know what area your from gas safe but in my 20 years experience rothenberger haven't given me what I would call customer service at all, and you've only ever had 2 problems with their tools and both times they've been a pleasure to deal with handing out goodie bags of other peoples products?..... What's your secret buddy? How come you get great service? Who you sleeping with!? 🙂 do they have a sister?

With the pencils, ikea do me cheap. (Free) just fill your pockets. Although the missus buys £100 worth of tat every time I walk in there

I don't use them too much myself . I li a good pencil. they are great for when someone borrows 'steels ' one

Best tool: AM TEC (12") spanner, had it ever since I was an apprentice, comfortable rubber grip and got me out a lot of trouble.
Worst tool: cheap tape measures. Will get you through half a week but not long after. I would put that being as bad as cheap pencils

I only use them on over tightened olives, a skilled hand and a set of grips can remove any olive but if it's strangled.... Out come the olive cutters and bang, off in seconds. 🙂

I only use them on over tightened olives, a skilled hand and a set of grips can remove any olive but if it's strangled.... Out come the olive cutters and bang, off in seconds. 🙂
