My very first job was helping a friend install his new central heating system up to the boiler, which was being fitted by someone else. All of the pipework was in conduit with the fittings in Speedfit junction boxes underneath each radiator. I was rather pleased with myself as the system had no leaks when I tested it and looked great.
Then the builders came along and asked why we'd bothered with conduit and the Speedfit boxes so that no fittings would be under the screed. They said they'd never seen anyone bother to make sure the fittings were accessible and not screed over in the fifteen years they'd been working!
