Hi
Please be gentle with me. I would get someone in if i could but its not as easy as that.
My parents have a very old farmhouse in rural (very) Spain, nearest town of any sort 35km local plumber bit of a cowboy,
So as a trained engineer deciding to do it myself for them as it seems only way forward.
The calor type small gas bottle feeds the water heater 10l per min instant heat type but the farmer types that owned the place before kept the bottle in an inside cupboard (nice eh) what i want to do is take the flexible tube approx 50cm long to a 12mm copper out the wall and along back wall a bit about 3m in all, so i need to put soldered nozle on each end.............Here the question at last, Do i use ordinary plumbers solder or do i have to use a brazing silver solder type.
Hope you experts can advise
Cheers

Ordinary solder will do the job. LPG's governed down to around 75mbar I believe. I don't work on LPG so am going of past understanding, however soldered joints are as strong as the pipework... IMO

Normal governed pressure would be 37-40 mbar but wouldn't know over there unless you're taking a British one over?

I like to fit a wallplate coupling fixed to the wall with a 1/2" nozzle screwed in so the connection to the hose is as secure as possible,

Like the wall plate idea, thanks for your help.

Any work done on gas in Spain must be brazed no exceptions, Are you a registered gas installer in Spain? if not leave it to an expert. The gas cylinder might be inside but it'll be in a vented cupboard which is perfectly OK

Can you tell me on what you base your observations on please, ie are you a gas registered installer in Spain ? The gas bottle will now be outside as OP Only brazing or soldering two nozles not really an expert job. We all like to protect our own trades but not exactly rocket science as i could buy two compresion nozles if it came to it. Thanks

Working for 6 years in Spain with a Cepsa registered gas installer is what I base my observations on, Do you think its ok to do illegal gas work? or is it because it's johny foreigner and you know best that you can flout theiir gas regulations?

Well that got someones back up I did ask and said please 'what you based your observation on' your six years in Spain has made you as helpful as the Spanish! just as a bit of information I have held my Spanish residencia for 22 years and have paid my social security payments for all that time so I dont really qualify as Johny freigner I managed to braze the pipe work and get the Butano bottle moved, its been inspected by Repsol and passed, Not bad for an Electrician Much less stringent for a gas Boliten than an Electrical one , Always thought plumbing was easy !! Many thanks to those that made polite replies.
