Hi

My parents, both in their late 80's had a new Ideal Logic combi 30 boiler installed just 2 years ago. No problems to date. The 2 year Ideal Boilers guarantee expires at the end of this month.

They have had a letter from Home Serve offering their Boiler Breakdown service plan.

Are all of these plans the same?

Are they worth taking out, over a regular service from the local heating engineer and contacting said engineer if something goes wrong?

Many thanks

to be honest they would do better putting the money away in a savings account rather than taking one of these out. as the boiler is only two years old and i assume regularly serviced, it should last for many years yet.

Keep a gas engineer employed locally. on a boiler that age if it does break down it is usually due to lack of a service. All these plans do is offer peace of mind and you pay over the odds for the repair, but pay in stages. I look after a guys gas fires who has a contract that he will never leave because he feels better knowing what it costs him a month. Had it 11years now and paid well over the odds over that time compared to what it needed spent on it had he used a local guy.

Go for local engineer you will get the best service 🙂 I worked for corgi boiler insurance biggest load of rubbish going.
