Boss White Question

View the thread, titled "Boss White Question" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

There are millions of old joints done with Boss white and hemp on potable water.
There's no recommendation to remove it, just not to use it in the future.
There's probably still some taps with leather washers and
Tap connectors with asbestos based fibre washers.

The list of "Not now recommended" but Still safe to use is massive.

Lead water pipes.
Mercury based teeth fillings, of which I still got a few.
Aluminium saucepans.

And more that I can't be bothered to think of.

Romans done the first thesis on lead pipes 2000 years ago! When did we stop using it? I think a little bit of boss white will be ok.
