Hi all,

I've just joined up to the forum, and have read a lot of fantastic advice about various plumbing issues so far.

I have a bit of concern about the boiler in my property, Its a Britony Combi SE (Not sure on the 80 or 100 version.

The problem I have is a worrying amount of pressure in the system after running, I must admit this is the first Sealed System i've ever dealt with and i'm much more confident with open systems. So, the symptoms Diagnosis i've done.

1) After filling the system to approximatley 1.5 Bar, All radiators bled, and system topped up to 1.5 Bar. After turning the CH on, the pressure slowly climbs to 4 bar+ (Red red red, danger will robinson) but never shuts off itself, it keeps going until the desired tempreature is reached.

(I've also turned off the filling loop, by both the switch and another Inline isolation valve, and turned off the water at the mains.

2) When turning the Pressure Release valve earlier today (Its the first time i've fired it up in the house as we've been doing major decorating/renovation work) when the system was at pressure, it first released quite a lot of clear water, however about 5 seconds, the water turned black/mucky and the PRV is no longer working.

I'm reluctant to buy a new PRV if there is a simple way of cleaning it out, (Air Compresser attached and blow out?) But will if i Have to.

Is there any other things it could be ?

The radiators in every room are getting hot from top to bottom, and 70% of the system has had new copper pipe so historical sludge should be at a minimum.

Any help apprecaited.

Many Thanks.

Iain

sounds as if expansion vessel requires pumping up and new p/r valve, chemical adding to system and flushing through at a later date ,as said before important system is nice and clean for this boiler

imho

Thanks for your reply Puddle,

I found through reading quite a lot of information on this forum that a pipe was blocked.

How i fixed it,

Drained the system to "Below" the boiler, removed the PRV, remove the 2 Flexi hoses, one going to the Expansion Tank, one going to another part, i'm yet to find out the name of. (This was the part that was blocked), attached an air compressor to it, and blew out all the sludge (VERY Well stuck) connected back up, pressurised the Expansion tank.

Fired it back up, all working fine 😀

Many Thanks
