I got called out to a factory warehouse about a month ago to see about bad sewage smells - I found nothing obvious
part of the job was to remove the toilet and basin & tile the floor. I fitted a new basin and waste pipe.
Theres an optical company thro the wall and their basin waste drains into our stack. I noticed that they are putting chemicals down the waste - white foamy stuff - with a strong chemical smell.
3 weeks later, after all the work is done, the manager calls me to say there are bubbles coming up w/c with strong sewage smells.
The basin stack is connected to the soil stack.
are these chemicals causing this ?
Should I be calling the council or a drain specialist to clean it ?
any help much appreciated
thanks
david

Vent rooms and call environmental health. Chemicals possibly causing gas to be generated. Hydrogen sulphide will kill you pretty quickly.
