Hi looking for some advice thanks in advance, I have got a plumber coming over to check this problem but I don't 100% trust him as he denied it could be anything he done that caused it , but googling has led me to believe other wise.

Getting an attic conversion , fitting toilet in attic on opposite side of attic to where the main soil stack came up . The plumber said we would need to use a Saniflo system , they removed the vent from main soil pipe and placed a reduced on this vent and ran a narrower white pipe (maybe 40mm ) to eaves and to Saniflo unit.

In the eaves there is a vertical pipe with a Durgo valve on top .
After this was done I noticed a noise in trap in bath when toilet was been flushed next to bath. I woke up one morning and the smell was terrible of sewage from bath. Rang plumber who said it couldn't be anything to do with them because they didn't go near main bathroom and only worked in attic.

From subsequent googling it appears the negative pressure caused from the flushing of toilet means water is been siphoned from bath trap. Is this a faulty Durgo valve causing this or is the bath trap the path of least resistance for the air. I understand you can get a anti siphon trap for bath but it would be a big job as I cannot access under the bath without removing tiling.

Any advice on what to do next ? Is the plumber in the wrong?

Thanks

He may have made a mistake but Dont instantly go on the attack. He won’t have had sight of any of the pipework under the bath etc as it’s tiled in as you said.
