Hi Chaps, I hope you are well and have had a cracking week. I need some advice on the attached images. The immersion heater has totally melted the plastic covering and then tripped the fuse. I have not been there yet. This is immersion heater only, so is the cable too small, can't be wrong fuse as it can be only 13 amp can't it? Overheat stat failed would just make water hot? Any help appreciated
 
Loose wiring connections, causing arcing, causing melting of cover.

Looks like the insulation on all the wires has started to break down. This can happen over time and especially that it was used every day. I would change the emergen heater and cable.
 
It's probably a loose connection as mentioned which normally results in a over heated joint, replace the heater and cable.
