Burst pipe in my flat

View the thread, titled "Burst pipe in my flat" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

I have currently had a burst pipe in my flat, I was going away for a long time and I was trying to turn off my main water supply for the flat. I have a unvented cylinder system.

First, I turned off the switch for the cylinder, then I turn the handle of the three shutoff valves (one is above the cylinder), but after a few hours I was told that one of the pipe bursted....

I just want to know why and what did I do wrong.....

This is the picture of the cupboard, the red lever i turned off

You probably won't of been able to turn it any way very stiff need tools

prob wont turn the hot water off but it could of been a heating system leak without knowing hard to say

It's unlikely that turning those valves off have caused a leak but there would need to be more information as to exactly what and where the leak was.
Are you going back or is someone sorting it out, get pictures of the location of the leak if you can.

If your plumber is reputable he'll be able to talk to you what happened and how you can stop it happening again. Do aks him and do let us know what he says. Wc1
